  • 16 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Motion. As we witnessed recently, Mumias Sugar Company was given to eminent businessmen in this country. As a result, Mumias Sugar Company is now one of the most mismanaged sugar factories. It has collapsed. Privatisation of these factories must be done with a lot of care and after consultations. We must not take public properties and put them in the hands of a few people. The land on which the sugar factories are situated belongs to the Government. The land was acquired upon payment of very ... view
  • 16 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: I want to propose that as we talk about privatisation, these sugar companies should be given to the county governments. This is during the period of transition. It is so that they are managed well. Let us hire those who can manage these factories well before we talk of privatising them. • 16 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: The Government is losing a lot of money. Take the example of Kenya Railways. It was privatised and taken over by a company. The company sold land belonging to Kenya Railways. They left the corporation without solving any problem. The Government should get the right people in management before we can do privatisation. I, therefore, support this privatisation because the Government does not want to remain in commercial enterprises. This Motion should be amended to say that the Government gets its--- view
  • 15 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity that I may also add my contribution to this Bill. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I support this Bill because it brings a new approach to the administration for action. For a long time in this country, administration has let down members of the public and even in their request, it takes a long time for our people to get services from the administration all this past. Sometimes even when we complain about the entire Government, it is because of poor administration in taking action. I have been sitting here ... view

  • 15 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you for giving me this opportunity. As far as I am concerned, the Government is doing well to withdraw from commercial activities so that Kenyans can take over and manage these projects and industries. I have noticed that there is something wrong with this country which the Government should find out particularly before it goes on privatising these factories. By the time Mumias Sugar Company was privatised for instance it had punished sugarcane farmers to the point that they decided to uproot the sugar cane. They are indebted by the factory. The factory management keeps telling farmers on an ... view

  • 1 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Address. I want to thank the President for a wonderful Address that he gave in this House. The President in his Address meant well. During his Address as I looked at him, in his heart he meant what he was delivering in this House. If you looked at his body language, you should have realised that he meant well and wanted to bring to this House the commitment that he had. I felt that the Members of this House should have appreciated him better. He wanted this House to support him in what he has been trying to get. He ... view
