  • 9 Oct 2013 in Senate: informative Motions to this House, especially today. I rise to support this Motion and as I support, I want to begin by recalling that the last time this nation faced a calamity of a big magnitude – that is when we had the fire at the airport – I happened to be on Mombasa Road. You just cannot believe what you see in the morning. On that day, the traffic happened to have been heavy heading towards the airport, with people going to work. The emergency vehicles were all coming from Nairobi; that is the fire fighters, heading towards the ... view
  • 9 Oct 2013 in Senate: emergency vehicles becomes a reality. It will not be difficult to just construct this lane and then you find the same thing happening now is what is going to happen next time. Madam Temporary Speaker, the next group of our people that we need to educate to make this a useful reality is the ambulance drivers themselves. This is because when an ambulance driver takes on the road, even after the road has been cleared for them, many a times they will insist on using the lanes that are not fast. If they know that they are supposed to keep ... view

  • 24 Sep 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, in solidarity with the rest of the country, I want to send my message of condolence to the families of those who are bereaved and those injured in this tragedy that has occurred in this country. view
  • 24 Sep 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I also want to congratulate all the people of goodwill in this country and the forces of this country, who as one, conducted themselves in the spirit of patriotism to make sure that we defeat the actions of the terrorists. view
  • 24 Sep 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, when this tragedy occurred, those responsible declared that they had come to revenge, because our forces had gotten involved in international missions, to the rescue of humanity. I wish to declare on behalf of the people of this country that if the intention of the strike or terrorism act was to deter our Kenyan forces from rising to the call of humanity, then this mission failed. Many times when those kinds of actions are conducted, most terrorists want to claim that they do that in the spirit or on behalf of a religious group. The embodiment and ... view
  • 24 Sep 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, any person at this time, who may want or wish to issue any advisories against any nation at this time, is ill advised. Every single human being is equal and every life is equal in the eyes of God. All of us, at this time, should stand as one people in the entire world and declare our battle and war against terrorism without any segregation. This is because all human life is sacred. Mr. Speaker, Sir, in tune and tandem with the rest of the nation, I wish to support the spirit of the Kenyan people. view
  • 10 Sep 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I will spend my one minute in laying the record straight because an impression has been created that this Motion has been brought here purposely and expressly just to benefit the current cases at the ICC. This is not so by a Senate which knows its mandate. In brevity, I want to say that since this country got Independence, our political landscape has been distorted. That distortion was started by colonialists for their own interests. In 2010, we got a new Constitution. We have been members of the ICC for five years. The question we should be ... view
