  • 26 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Registration of births and deaths in Kenya assumes a community-based system, which is based on the fact that births and deaths occur in the community. Assistant Chiefs are, therefore, responsible for registration of births and deaths that occur at home while medical personnel register births and deaths that occur at health facilities. view
  • 26 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: The Civil Registration Service undertakes very critical roles in our country, core among them being registration of births and deaths occurring in Kenya; registration of births and deaths of Kenyan citizens occurring outside Kenya; registration upon legitimisation and recognition of a child; re-registration upon adoption; issuance of birth and death certificates; formulation, review and implementation of policies, regulations, standards and strategies on births and deaths registration; interpretation, administration and enforcement of the Birth and Deaths Registration Act, Cap. 149 and other related statutes; maintaining, securing and keeping custody of births and deaths records; capturing, collection, compilation and analysis of vital ... view
  • 26 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, the national statistical coverage rates for 2019 stands at 75.5 per cent for births and 38.8 per cent for deaths. This is against the Department’s target of 100 per cent coverage of registration of births and deaths. The Department currently has 124 sub-county offices out of 324 sub-counties. The following counties have no offices, hence making it difficult to serve the residents of those counties effectively: Isiolo, Mandera, Samburu, Turkana, West Pokot and Nairobi. A majority of counties have, at least, two offices. The Department is unable to operationalise more sub-county offices due to low staffing levels ... view

Ali Dido Rasso, MP (Saku Constituency) by the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security by a further period of forty-five (45) days with effect from 27th November 2020. view
  • 26 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, this is in consideration of the fact that the due date for tabling a report on this Petition is Friday, 27th November 2020, and the House is expected to proceed on recess from 4th December 2020. The extension being sought is for a period of 45 days from tomorrow to the date when the House will resume sitting in February, 2021. We are seeking the extension following the Committee’s public hearing in Marsabit on 14th November 2020, and after hearing the former Marsabit Governor and current Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury, Amb. Ukur Yatani on 23rd November ... view

  • 19 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I wish to associate myself fully with the words of His Excellency the President during the State of the Nation Address last week when he indicated that the state of the national security is strong. Our national security apparatus have been on overdrive trying to ensure that we are secured despite the many challenges that we are experiencing as a country. Many security threats posed by terrorists have been thwarted by our gallant security officers led by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) working together with the National Intelligence Service (NIS) officers. We are ... view
  • 19 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Our police officers have since March this year been playing a huge role in helping us combat the COVID-19 pandemic. They have been in the frontline in the fight against COVID-19. In the initial days, they played a very big role in contact tracing. They also manned the very many roadblocks erected all over the country to restrict movement of our people in an attempt to reduce COVID-19 spread. Up to now, they are fully involved in ensuring that the current curfew is observed strictly. I urge this House to push for our police officers to get COVID-19 allowance just ... view
