  • 29 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: With those few remarks, I beg to move and ask Mr. Wamalwa to second. view
  • 28 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I think the efforts the Government has undertaken have not been adequate and if they had been, farmers would be the first by responding through improved production. However, what we also know is that the Kenyan coffee farmer has been reduced to a producer of raw materials while others in the international coffee market use this coffee to blend it with other low quality coffee and ultimately take it into the market without a brand name. view
  • 28 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, given the vision of the Government with regard to farming; that they should market and brand the product, what is the Ministry doing to ensure that it brands and markets Kenyan coffee so that the Kenyan coffee farmer can get a reasonable return? view
  • 22 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, considering the severe injuries on the right arm that were suffered by this employee, does the Assistant Minister consider the Kshs38,000 reasonable and fair? Is this adequate compensation, or a paltry payment to appease the injured worker? view
  • 14 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Energy the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Considering that as at 6th August, 2008 the world price of oil stood at US$126 per barrel, down from a high of US$146 in mid-July, could the Minister explain why fuel prices in the local market have not been adjusted downwards? (b) Why does the National Oil Corporation Kenya (NOCK) currently not supply bulk fuel to consumers? (c) Could the Minister explain what steps he will take to ensure that the NOCK begins to supply bulk fuel to consumers to safeguard ... view
  • 14 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, that answer by the Assistant Minister is not satisfactory. He has accepted that the price of fuel as at July was US$146 per barrel and it has come down, right now, to US$73 per barrel. That is half what it was. The pump price as at July was Kshs109. Right now, it is retailing at about Kshs98. Is that not complete exploitation of the consumers in this country? What is the Government doing to address this problem? How can the Government sit back and watch as some few monopolies exploit poor Kenyans? view
  • 14 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. view
  • 7 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: ) to ask the Minister for Energy:- (a) Considering that as at 6th August, 2008, the world price of oil stood at US$126 per barrel, down from a high of US$146 in mid-July, could the Minister explain why fuel prices in the local market have not been adjusted downwards? (b) Why does the National Oil Corporation of Kenya (NOCK) currently not supply bulk fuel to consumers? (c) Could the Minister explain what steps he will take to ensure that the NOCK begins to supply bulk fuel to consumers to safeguard them against exploitation? view
  • 7 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I come from a region where most of the small-scale farmers are trying to eke out their living by growing coffee. As we speak, most of them are selling their coffee to multinationals because the KPCU, which is a farmer-owned organisation, has been brought down. I am happy to hear the Minister say that he is ready to take action. He has fallen short of stating categorically what action he will take to assure coffee farmers so that they can go back to coffee farming. view
  • 7 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs:- (a) whether she is aware that the backlog of cases currently crippling the Judiciary, especially at the High Court and Court of Appeal, is due to limited number of judicial officers; and, (b) what the Minister is doing to raise the number of Puisne Judges and Judges of Appeal in compliance with the provisions of the Judicature Act, Cap. 8 of the Laws of Kenya. view
