While effecting arrest of any suspect, police officers should avoid physical contact with suspects and may only need to inform the suspects that they are under arrest and state reasons for the arrest. 2. The police officer shall then caution the suspect that whatever he or she will say may be used as evidence against him or her in a court of law. 3.
