  • 6 Apr 2022 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Bill. At the outset, I want to congratulate my Chair of the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare for the good work that he has done with the Committee and the Secretariat. I will not forget to mention that I was the Chair of this Committee when this Bill was commenced and I left it under the good hands of the current Chair who has done us justice by virtue of what he has brought here as recommendations. I, therefore, want to associate myself with the good work ... view
  • 6 Apr 2022 in National Assembly: It is critical for us to know that we live in a world that we will bequeath to the generations to come. Currently, the generations are our children. We are here to protect the very generations that we are talking about. I cannot imagine… I have listened to the Chair talking about some children who were at one time at Kenyatta Hospital. They were 300. The moment it was ordered that they be taken to children’s homes that are government institutions, in three days only three remained. Two of them were disabled and one was infected by HIV. That means ... view

In the interest of time, I let the House know that, on its First Reading on 21st December 2021, the Bill was referred to the Committee. The Committee proceeded to undertake public participation in which case an advertisement was placed in the dailies on 23rd December 2021. • 6 Apr 2022 in National Assembly: Lastly, let me thank your office and the Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly for the support. I also thank Members of the Committee who worked tirelessly to ensure the process is completed. Members made great sacrifices given that the country is already in election mood. I must recognise the good support that the Committee received from its secretariat in processing this Bill. With those many remarks, I beg to second. view
  • 2 Feb 2022 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. At the outset, I accept that this is a weighty and timely matter. Towards the end of last year, I was in UK. I was living next to Parliament. I saw the barriers that they had put up because of the security threat that was there. One time, there was a suicide bomber who tried to get into Parliament and was stopped by those barriers. It is a concern that is legitimate. I do not know whether there is any other part in UK which is not secured, especially those important buildings as alluded to by ... view
