  • 1 Dec 2020 in Senate: The establishment of 10 county chemotherapy centers and construction of radiotherapy bankers in Mombasa, Nakuru and Garissa regional cancer centers is laudable. However, capacity-building efforts to ensure provision of safe chemotherapy services by the Ministry of Health will improve cancer services as well as get through to more women. As it stands, the services have only managed to reach 16.4 per cent of the targeted women population. The benefits of these services will only be fully realized if and when they are embedded in the Universal Health Care plan and the cost covered by health insurance schemes.
