Hon. Deputy Speaker, I will attempt to respond to those that lay within the health docket. For those that I do not have a response, I will also indicate so. The matter that has been raised by hon. Moi is of concern, not only to the people of Rongai and the Salgaa area, but it is a matter of road safety in all our roads, especially in areas where we have black spots, which have already been identified. I feel that hon. Moi simply appreciated that the response was good, in good time and the project is going to be ...

responded. Hon. Members had earlier asked that we do not just think about roads, getting oil and all that, without asking what could be the health impact. Hon. Deputy Speaker, I am also aware that we have issues in the oil exploration areas in northern Kenya where we are being told that there are certain diseases that are being related to drilling. There are some health effects and that is happening. This will be addressed by the Health Impact Assessment (HIA) which I have just mentioned. Hon. (Dr.) Pukose has asked a question and I appreciate what hon. Dawood has ...

Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I rise to support these amendments. The first amendments are just a matter of procedure but looking at the part where we have inserted KUPPET and KNUT, we felt as a Committee that it is better to be that democratic so that teachers themselves can make a decision on having only one slot within the board and also in the spirit of reducing the number of board members. I also support that it is important to have the KMA because of the expertise that they offer to this fund, which is a medical related fund and ...

Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I would like to say that this matter was discussed by the Committee after we were awakened or after the matter was brought to us by hon. Mwaita. It is true that we felt that it is too punitive to charge five times when you do not remit in time. The feeling of the Departmental Committee on Health was that the charge should be two times but not five times. But at The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard ...

the same time, I have a feeling that it is important to consider the small companies and charge them less and also compare with the NSSF which charges 5 per cent. It is too much to charge five times and it is important for us as Kenyans to be considerate of our own institutions that are being overcharged but at the same time encourage—

Thank you, hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. First of all, I would like to appreciate the fact that this Statement has finally found its way here. I have waited for the last four months for the response to be given. I must appreciate that at times things are beyond a Chair’s ability to bring forth a statement. I have several issues with this statement. First of all, I would like to state that as hon. Abongotum, my colleague and friend, who has been in the security profession for a long time--- I would like to point that this ...

game reserve where there is neither a chief nor an assistant chief. They make their own laws and live the way they want. Hon. Speaker, this is a matter that needs to be taken seriously. I have spoken to my colleague; I looked at hon. Abongotum, when he was reading this Statement, and from non-verbal communication I could tell that hon. Abongotum is aware that what he was reporting was not factual. Hon. Speaker, there are a lot of illegal activities going on.
