  • 4 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, in the same vein, could the Assistant Minister confirm that if they find that the ID card is not fake, they will compensate this girl and that we could also take the Assistant Minister to court? view
  • 4 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to support this Motion and I have been given motivation to speak because of listening to the Whip speaking here. I have been thinking to myself that the more reason why we need to take a break in this Parliament is because I think the President and the Prime Minister must decide whether they have a Government that is working together. We cannot have a Coalition Government where you have Ministers being ripped apart on cameras by House Committees and by Motions and then you have Assistant Ministers who disagree with their Ministers ... view
  • 4 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: I did not know that there is a Session where you can say anything. I am losing confidence in this House for failing to hold a cohesive nation. I am losing confidence because hon. Members have failed to represent their peoples’ interest but instead represent particular interests of ethnic groups, regions or partisan politics. So, as we go for a break to discuss implementation, let us ask those who are holding positions of leadership in this country to take time to recollect and think about what their true roles and responsibilities are and we have to bite the bullet. If ... view
  • 4 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, although I do not think I have gone against that. If I have, then I apologize but I do believe I have made my point clear. I am saying the issue of equality in this country should not be debated by Members here anymore because I think every Kenyan in this country has the right to representation and revenue allocation. Therefore, we should be a bit more responsible when making some utterances in this House. I support. view
  • 3 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, as the Assistant Minister speaks about football organizations that we all know must go through some radical surgery, could he also tell us the Ministry’s role in overseeing the organization of, for example, the match on the day we lost Kenyans especially when it comes to the issue of security? I ask this because I am a football fan. I went to watch the Uganda versus Kenya match. I want to say here that my son was beaten up by policemen as we were coming in. I really wonder whether the police during football matches are ... view
  • 3 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I know normally we are supposed to thank Ministers for their comprehensive answers but on this occasion, I cannot. In fact, I am totally offended. I want to draw the attention of this House to the new Constitution and the fact that I know we were on the same side of the campaign with this Assistant Minister, I guess there are some areas he did not read. Article 27, Equality and Freedom from discrimination, I would like to read Section 4 which states:- “The State shall not discriminate directly or indirectly against any person ... view
  • 3 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I would like to seek your guidance on a matter of procedure. If a Committee is investigating a matter and the hon. Members of that same Committee are then asking questions that are already showing prejudice, what is the procedure that should be followed? This matter is before the Committee on Equal Opportunities and the same hon. Members are questioning the Minister using the information they have collected and yet they have not finished writing their recommendations. What is the procedure to be followed in this case? view
  • 28 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, recognizing that the Assistant Minister is a Member of Parliament for Nairobi, I would like her to tell us whether there is a point of continuing to pay lip service to slum dwellers of Nairobi by saying that she is providing housing for them when she has said that the national budget is Kshs750 million and yet, we know that there was a house being built for the Vice-President that surpassed that amount and it is not complete? Surely, can she not – because she is also a Member of Parliament from Nairobi – say ... view
  • 28 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I heard the Assistant Minister refer to my question as a rude question. Is it parliamentary to say that it is very rude for a hon. Member to ask that question? Is that parliamentary language? view
  • 28 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Is it in order for the Assistant Minister who has publicly contradicted his Minister to really be giving direction on this issue, when it has been put on record that he is contradicting the Minister? Therefore, their statements cannot be similar. view
