  • 19 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: The Temporary Deputy Chairman, let me just say, of course we will go with the mood of the House. But hon. Chairman, because you are a Chair like me, it is about numbers and capacities. Remember we have always said in this House, irrespective of being three or four, we can go ahead and make a law. I do not see this House empty. In fact, I see a substantial good number of Members and that has always happened. But what I do see, which is always very unfortunate, is men, who are insecure, who are chauvinistic and who do ... view
  • 19 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Members, I am not able to put the Question for obvious reasons. view
  • 19 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. Excuse me for my voice, but because there is a microphone, I am sure I will be heard. view
  • 19 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, the country is aware that governors think they are presidents. It is obvious from the way they act; either it is because of the title we gave them or the money that we devolved to the counties. But what shocks me – because theirs is an attitude problem – is the way the Judiciary is now acting. I think when we talked about reform of the Judiciary; we gave too much clout to the Judiciary to the point where we made them look like they would never sin. What they are doing now is what Kenyans fought for ... view
  • 19 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: minds, and we think that we get rich judgments, but that is not the case. That did not only shock me, but also the people of Nairobi. Let me give another example, we have over 20,000 people who were removed from a piece of land where the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) was a trustee. What did the NCCK do? As trustees, they sold land that belonged to Jua Kali traders. What did the owner of that land which was sold do? He went and collected a court order and as we are speaking, he is in the ... view
  • 13 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, it is true that there was a letter from the Speaker of the Senate on why the Senate believes that they should have two names, but subsequently, and you know it, there was a communication. I called you and there was communication by the President of the PAP after our intervention as a team, that all the Speaker of the PAP needs is a letter signed jointly by you and the Speaker of the Senate approving the names. That was after our intervention as a team. Therefore, it does not stand anymore that it must be two people. ... view
  • 13 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: I am saying that I brought the report. What currently stands, and it is good for all the Members to know, is that the President of the PAP is waiting for a letter signed both by you and the Speaker of the Senate, to just show that there is no contention on the list. Therefore, it does not need to be two or three Senators. On the issue of whether we spoke, in fact, we are even in Committees and I am sitting in the Finance Committee of the PAP. So, I want to say that hon. Milllie and I ... view
  • 5 Dec 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, Sir. I rise to seek a clarification from the Chair, Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security. I have seen that he has laid a Report on the Westgate Investigations but I did not hear him give notice of Motion for the debate on the same. I am wondering whether it is me who did not hear when the notice of Motion was given. view

  • 5 Dec 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to report that a Committee of the Whole House has considered the Presidential Memorandum on the Kenya Information and Communications (Amendment) Bill, National Assembly Bill No.19 of 2013 and approved the same without amendments. view
