  • 13 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, yesterday, when the Speaker made his ruling and all the Questions were deferred to today, those of us who know what to do, went to the internet and knew that our Questions were to appear this morning. Is he admitting that the Government is not technologically savvy and does not know that the Order Paper is always on the parliamentary website the night before? The Ministers have no excuse not to be here and you are the Leader of Government Business. view
  • 13 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I believe that three weeks ago, I requested for a Ministerial Statement and the Deputy Leader of Government Business committed it to 23rd May. The Statement was from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and it was on the issues surrounding the Mathare Youth Sports Association. This is an issue which has become very dicey. It is also spoiling our image in Norway, a country that we have very good relations with and continues to affect the young people because it involved sexual exploitation. I want that Statement as soon as possible. The Minister for Youth ... view
  • 13 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I just want to enrich on the Statement that has been requested by my colleague, who of course is the head of our Parliamentary Group at the Pan African Parliament (PAP). As the Minister makes the statement, could he also tell us, in relation to these elections, how the Government decides on who to support considering that we are in a Coalition Government, meaning that we have two principals. The two principals, of course, we know should be consulting on issues. Whether the decision to support Jean Ping was made collectively by the Cabinet for the ... view
  • 12 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: to ask the Minister for Public Health and Sanitation the following Question by Private Notice:- (a) Is the Minister aware that there is an outbreak of measles which has so far left six children dead in the country? (b) Why has the Government not issued an alert on the same? view
  • 12 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. Because everybody seems to be in agreement, can we not find an easier way to vote for this instead of going to a division, like putting up our hands and being counted? view
  • 7 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: asked the Minister of State for Public Service what mechanisms he has put in place to ensure constant audits and reporting on compliance with the two-thirds gender requirement in Public Service. view
  • 7 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I appreciate the answer from the Assistant Minister, Ministry of State for Public Service. However, I would like him to clarify to us with the new Constitution which has brought about a Gender Commission, whether or not the Ministry of State for Public Service is working with them? The Gender Commission’s mandate is well spelt out. Is he further aware the work of audit is no longer their work, but for the Gender Commission? view
  • 7 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, just like you have appreciated the Minister’s answer, I also appreciate it. I would just like – for the benefit of the House and even the Ministry – to table the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development bi-annual report which was for 2011/2012 on the status of the two-thirds gender rule, because I believe that it is important for Kenyans to know that this is actually being audited also by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development, through the Gender Commission, which is really their responsibility. The report clearly categorizes every Ministry, parastatal and sector ... view
