  • 26 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I beg to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Industry, Trade and Cooperatives the following Question: (i) Could the Cabinet Secretary explain the drastic reduction in tea bonus payout from Kshs50 per kilogramme to Kshs30 per kilogramme despite tea sales at the Mombasa Tea Auction fetching high rates exceeding Kshs200 a kilogramme? (ii) What steps has the Ministry taken to address the challenge occasioned by the reduction in view of the fact that most tea farmers had already taken upfront loans at a rate of Kshs30 per kilogramme of tea in anticipation of tea bonus rate of Kshs50 ... view
  • 25 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the amendment Motion. I want to congratulate Hon. Wangari. This is a noble idea. The reason is that we have so many children in the streets, children who do not have parents. When you see a parent going ahead and adopting a child, thatparent has a calling. It is, indeed, a blessing. The other reason I support this amendment is because a child who is one year old is a toddler. Maybe the environment the child was living in never got loving care. When such a child is adopted, it ... view
  • 27 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Report by the Departmental Committee on Health. We all know that health is wealth. It is true we have too many issues, especially in our referral hospitals. I feel and recommend that all referral hospitals should be taken back to the national Government because you can see exactly what is happening in Kirinyaga and Laikipia counties. When nurses and doctors strike, our people are the ones who suffer and die every day. view
  • 27 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Most hospitals do not have facilities. For example, we have a new hospital in Othaya, Nyeri County, which we have recommended to go to the national Government because it is a Level 6 hospital. We have a problem with our doctors. If you go to county governments, you find that those doctors go for training and further studies. When they finish their studies, they do not go back to those hospitals. At the end of the day, you find that the hospitals do not have doctors. I support the Committee’s Report. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. view

  • 28 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Pursuant to Standing Order No.44(2)(c), I wish to request for a statement from the Chairperson, Departmental Committee on Transport, Public works and Housing regarding the recent crash involving the Ethiopian Airlines ET302 which occurred on Sunday 10th March 2019. The plane crashed en route to Nairobi where 157 lives were lost, among which more than 30 were Kenyans. On behalf of the people of Nyeri County and on my own behalf, I would like to send my deepest and sincere condolences to the families of Kenyans and the countries whose people lost their lives in the ... view
  • 7 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: I also rise to oppose because we know exactly what is happening in this country. They just want to sell those medicines which are not fit for human consumption. view
  • 7 Nov 2018 in National Assembly: (Nyeri (CWR), JP): Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the amendment. As a Member of the Departmental Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, I want to thank the Members who have really supported this amendment. Most Kenyans do not differentiate between a SACCO society and deposit- taking SACCOs. Now, the DTS have been taking advantage of poor Kenyans. Most members are young and small entrepreneurs. They are small businesspeople who normally join SACCO so that they can get money to do businesses. Those people have been taking advantage of them because they did not have any ... view
