After going through the Report, I have seen that they are qualified and they will do a good job. I am wondering that an MP can stand before the House and start talking about tribes and who should be nominated or not. I am a Member from the Opposition and the nominees come from the Jubilee Coalition. The Coalition appointed people who voted for them overwhelmingly. I do not see why one would even stand here and start challenging his Excellency. I am very happy because the PS for Health is a Kamba who has come from a place which ...

Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I stand to support this Bill. The Government needs money to run the country. For it to do that, it must collect taxes. I congratulate the person who brought this Bill because we have been waiting for it for a long time. I would like to request the Mover to consider some areas. Recently, the KRA introduced taxes from landlords without considering the fact that some of the landlords have obtained loans to put up buildings. They take years before they can earn anything out of the loans that they have taken. Many people are ...

people will be pushed out of business. If we standardize the large consignments coming into the country, some of our local businessmen will be pushed out of business; you know the way our economy is. Let the Government monitor corruption. We may be getting a lot of business coming in with investors. At the end of the day, out of what they are bringing in the country, a lot is going into people’s pockets. There must be a procedure to control and monitor what is happening. It is not that we are not making money in this country; we are ...

We have had the same people doing the same business and we have been paying taxes. What has happened this year, or what has gone wrong? We have never heard of factories closing down. We have had the same factories and they are even increasing, yet people are unable to collect taxes; maybe taxes are collected and put into pockets of individuals. That is why you hear people saying that the Government has no money; what has happened? Last year and the years before, we had been collecting taxes. Something somewhere is very wrong. When people are talking about corruption, ...

Thank you, Hon Temporary Deputy Speaker. I have two minutes and I am going to make good use of them. The people of this country lack knowledge, ability and ideas on how to deal with emergencies. Everybody worldwide has a right to live and for the person to live there must be people who help him or her live. I attended a funeral at my place last month and I saw a very desperate case. People were collapsing during the funeral and no one had an idea on how to deal with such cases. At a certain point I had ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I am not going to waste a lot of time. My colleagues have said a lot and I do not think repeating will make any difference. Judges are vetted for a year or so and then they go and sit in new offices with the old clerks and people who started working in those offices long time ago. They do not bring any change in those offices. Sometimes, the issue of files being lost does not even involve the sitting judges because there is also another cartel involving clerks and other people who are ...

ask the old men how their cases went, they say they did not hear anything and that they are waiting for their lawyer to translate. This is very important. If Kiswahili can also be allowed, more so in areas outside municipalities like our place, I am sure those old men will be able to follow the cases. It is very disappointing to see some judges being vetted. If you look at the list of the judges who have been vetted, you will find that some of them have question marks. Once they are vetted, I do not know whether they ...
