  • 18 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I want to support this particular clause but I have concerns on part (a) which says: “The President shall be referred to as “His or Her Excellency.” I tend to think that this part (a) is hanging because we are saying “His Excellency” then you move on and say “His Excellency the Deputy President.” I think part (a) needs to be completed. It needs to read: “The President shall be referred to as His or Her Excellency the President”. I also want to add my voice to the issue of MCAs. It will be ... view
  • 10 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I stand to support this Motion in the sense that the House Business must go on and as such we need to approve this particular list. However, it is very important and of great concern that we have to look at the conduct of some of the Members of this particular Committee. For real, the integrity of this House is at stake given the conduct of some of the Members who are on this Committee. As we go on, it is very important that we do vet in a special way ... view
  • 23 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Deputy Speaker. I am also interested in this matter. I want to thank my colleague here, hon. Nyokabi, for bringing up this matter to this House. I am worried because this is where we have a lot of corruption. We are not even being told how those items reach the counties or constituencies. Maybe, the Chair should tell us the schools which have benefited from that exercise so that we can also be aware. view
  • 23 Jul 2014 in National Assembly: I also come from a county where we have squatters. You know squatter children cannot access those facilities. I request the Chair to come up with good measures so that we can also benefit from that exercise. view

  • 25 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Motion. A lot has been said about Dr. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali. I want to stand here specifically to talk about Ms. Lonah Mumelo. I am proud that her name is appearing here. I have known her during my high school days. She was my schoolmate. I stand here to testify about a lady of substance who is coming to join Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC). Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Lonah Mumelo has headed several educational institutions and has exhibited a lot of understanding. She has strengthened institutions and systems in ... view

  • 5 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker, Sir. I rise in connection to what has been said about Mount Elgon. I want to say that I am the County Women Representative, Bungoma County (CWR), where Mount Elgon falls under. I want to talk about Chepkurkur Primary School. This issue is not new. It featured in the newspaper sometime back. As the CWR, Bungoma County, I visited that school in June and we had a meeting with the community. The first person who blew the whistle about girls getting pregnant was the headmaster of the primary school. The Chairman of the school together with ... view

  • 5 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, we met with the community and established that the only way to secure the girls in Kopsiro Division of Mount Elgon is to set up a rescue centre so that they can have boarding facilities. Arrangements were put in place for that. I want to inform this House that even--- view
