  • 13 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: We must encourage the Government to invest in food that will contribute towards building a healthy nation. I am a very worried representative of the people of Isiolo County, where the issue of diabetes is on the rise because we seem to be losing focus on this Big Four Agenda and concentrating so much on unnecessary politics and side shows. As I contribute, I want to urge my colleagues who are here; let us see what we can do. We should not just be coming here every Wednesday morning to supporting Private Members’ Motions. Supporting alone will not help. view
  • 13 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: I also want to echo what one of the contributors has talked about on the importance of community health workers. In that regard, I want to congratulate my county of Isiolo for partnering with Living Goods to ensure that we have resourced and enhanced community health workers. These are the first contacts with the people in the rural set up. They can advise and encourage people to go for regular screening. Therefore, as I echo my colleagues’ contributions, those are the areas that the county governments and the national Government ought to focus on. view
  • 13 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: With those few remarks I support this very important Motion and congratulate my sister once again for bringing it to the House. view
  • 7 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to ask Question No.091/2019 to the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation. (i) Is the Cabinet Secretary aware that most pastoralists from Isiolo County lost their livestock due to the most recent severe drought? (ii) When will farmers be paid for the supply of livestock under the livestock take-off program? view
  • 7 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity. Actually, I was getting worried that you forgot the female gender in the House. view
  • 7 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to contribute to this debate. As I do so, I want to assure you that as a first time Member, I have learnt quite a lot. I promise you that going forward I will be attending evening sessions because this is the time I think serious Members stay in the House to debate serious issues. Honestly, the two debates I have followed very closely today have enriched my knowledge. view
  • 7 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: I sit in the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing. The reason I decided to stay and contribute is because I do not know what we are discussing. As a Member of that Committee, we had opportunity to meet the two institutions, namely, KAA and KQ. We were able to interrogate the matter and we were given a document. So, we got an approval to go on a retreat for four days. I am sure the document must be a policy or proposal. The main problem with this Report, in my view, is that PIC is acting prematurely. ... view
  • 7 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I saw Members lobbying and some of them are not even Members of the PIC or the Departmental The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 7 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing. I think that is the main problem. A perception has been created out there that the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing was either compromised or it lost time in following the issue. view
  • 7 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: It is good for us to say the truth. The truth is that the perception created is that the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing was either compromised or slept on the job and, therefore, PIC felt like running with the issue. In my view, we should be allowed to exercise our mandate and look at this document critically and bring a report to this House. After that, if there are issues of audit, then PIC can take them up according to the mandate given by the Standing Orders. Otherwise, I have seen the main problem of this ... view
