Clearly, you can see the lack of interest and commitment portrayed by the leadership of the Committee. Temporary Deputy Speaker for allowing me an opportunity to highlight this issue of national importance. Drought has reached a very alarming level in 25 counties of this country. This is due to poor performance of both the 2020 short rains and the 2021 long rains across the 25 counties I mentioned. Secondly, we urgently plead for a collective intervention by the national Government, county governments, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and the private sector. The private sector has been doing some initiatives such as Kenyans for Kenya. We ask this House to enhance the budget of the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA), so that they can increase the number of households that will benefit from the Cash Transfer Programme. • 3 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: support me on this. I am sure my brother here will agree with me that he is a known leader in this country who has demonstrated what waqf is all about. In my county many people including the MP for Isiolo North are beneficiaries of a waqf. He was educated from the proceeds of waqf from primary school all the way to university. Many students from Isiolo County and especially those from poor families have benefited. view
