It is important that both parents are given an opportunity to bond with their children. I have seen a scenario where fathers are more responsible than mothers. Therefore, it is fair that whenever we have such special cases both parents, mother or father, depending on what their The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. needs are, should be given adequate opportunity. I am reminded that not long ago, the princes in the Queen’s house gave birth to a bouncing baby boy and when she had to visit America recently, about two weeks ago, she left the child with the father. I thought that was awesome. I amlooking forward to a day that as a Member of Parliament I will be given a chance to sit with my baby while mama goes to work. That is the kind of society we want to build.

I believe the Bill will help us to appreciate some of those small things. Adoption should not only be tied to the inability to biologically give birth to children. It should be because God has given you slightly more that you can share with the less fortunate in society. That is the practice all over the world. I had an opportunity of going to Denmark. When we were at a function in the hotel we were staying, a white couple came in with a disabled African child. That was the epitome of what love should be. They had adopted a ...

I acknowledge the effort the Government has put inplace to ensure that children from poorfamilies go to school. We have been given an opportunity to disburse bursary funds. The bursary fund we have is not enough toprovide for every need a child requires to go to school. In a small way it can comfort and give some provision so that such children can go to school and get quality education which will make them competitive in society. Therefore, we should all be very firm and make surethe funds we get for bursary are used prudently so that we can give ...

Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I rise to support. Even as I do that, digital market is an extension of the stock market and we all know how the stock market works. If we do not put measures in place and the laws which will protect the investor, we will leave him exposed. I am grateful that we have started. At least, we have started in the right direction, but we have to be sure that we are putting the laws in place to ensure that the poor investors from upcountry, who have no capacity to understand the intricacies involved in ...

Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I support the amendment, but I want to put a caution. It is not enough to say that security services, cleaning, fumigation and catering services are for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs). We have big companies which do these kinds of businesses. I will be more comfortable if we put an amount or threshold and then we say that beyond it, we will tax. When we leave it open, then we will encourage underworld market where everybody else can register his business in the The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes ...

Thank you Hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to speak to this Bill which touches on the lives of Kenyans. We are here in Parliament to protect their lives. Essentially, without people, we have no country. We whine every day saying that the economy is not doing as well as it should and we know the contributions banks have to make towards economic growth. Therefore, when we are concerned about the bank charges, it is a legitimate concern which should worry every one of us. How we approach it is the big question or the elephant in the ...
