  • 29 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker, for the opportunity. I want to appreciate Emmanuel, my schoolmate, for the job well done. From the outset, I support the Bill. I want to propose that we include the repeaters. As it is, people who are repeating Standard Eight or Form Four are required to pay examination fees even in public schools. We recommend that, that be included so that repeaters also get the same opportunity and the benefits that pass on from the Government. We all know that education makes us equal. Education is the function which has created leaders and the structures ... view
  • 23 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for the opportunity to speak to this Bill, which addresses the concerns of Kenyans today. I agree with what the speakers who have spoken before me have said that this is a very timely Bill that addresses our concerns and even our future concerns. Considering the Al Shabaab menace that we have in the country today, there would never have been a better time to have this Bill coming to the Floor of the House. We need to enhance it so that we can include scenarios such as what we had in Garissa recently. ... view
  • 23 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: to ensure their children had gone to school so that someday they would take up the responsibility and support the family to grow to the next level. I am also aware of the teachers who died. Unfortunately, most of those teachers were from my county and my constituency in particular. The survivors and the family members of the people who lost their lives are hurting. They are in pain. They have lost the last investment they had. We all appreciate that education is an investment and if it is an investment then the kind of investment that is put into ... view
  • 23 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you for the opportunity to also say something about the Bill. From the outset I support it. I believe that is the way to go. By having this and using it properly we are going to have food security in the country. This will reduce poverty as we are all challenged by poverty in the country. This kind of a Bill goes along way in addressing that. More importantly, I am concerned with aquaculture fishing, in which we talk of fish ponds. The majority of Kenyans do not have the privilege of being neighbours to waters like Hon. Millie ... view
  • 23 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: That kind of technology can be imported to other parts of the country to ensure the youth to engage in such an activity instead of using their spare time undertaking unproductive activities. They will be able to generate their own income rather than doing some of the things that we all know they sometimes do; this is because they do not have much productive activity to engage in. Old fishing methods are unsustainable. I have had an interest in Kisumu for the period I was there. There has been a lot of concern that fishing in the lake and in ... view
  • 23 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: I also propose that when we get to that point, we need to include the provision that the planting of Blue Gum by the riverside should be banned. I am so concerned about this. I come from a region where we are endowed with soil fertility and we have done very well in terms of ensuring that God’s requirement is fulfilled on earth, that is, filling the world. We have done very well. However, filling the world has its own consequences. My county is a small one, yet we have a huge population. With such a huge population, we must ... view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I second the amendment by my colleague. I thank the two Members who have done a wonderful job in ensuring that this Motion has come to the Floor of the House. I thank hon. Kigo Njenga for a well thought-out Motion. view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: As a country, we are hurting because of giving priorities to things which do not add any value to the society and our next generation. view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, that is what I am doing. I have seconded the amendment as moved by hon. Kazungu. view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, they are more or less the same thing. view
