  • 4 Oct 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, on consultations with the Questioner, and due to the fact that Mr. Rana served this country with distinction, and given the fact that this matter has lasted a period of over 20 years, we decided that we would refer this matter to the Treasury. The Ministry of Finance has agreed to evaluate the matter in its totality and give us a substantive answer as to how much money will be refunded to Mr. Rana, and we have agreed to the same. view

  • 4 Oct 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this was a Statement with regard to the death of a Kenyan in Dubai, Mr. Enos Ogada. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that the Kenyan Consulate in Dubai has informed us that Mr. Ogada died in Dubai’s Al Awir Jail. He was found dead in the morning of 20th September, 2012. The authorities in the United Arab Emirates, in a letter dated 25th September, 2012, indicated that Mr. Ogada died of natural causes and medical examination reports were handed over to his wife Mrs. Dorothy Ogada who was also in Dubai. Prior to the late Mr. ... view
  • 2 Oct 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, hon. Kabogo had asked me to come and answer this Question; to be honest with you, I am not satisfied with the response that I am supposed to give on behalf of the Ministry. With a lot of courtesy and patience, I would want to go and personally interrogate why this Question has not been given the weight it deserves. I could come back here tomorrow to present a substantive answer on the same. view
  • 2 Oct 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, yes, by tomorrow I should be able to reply. view
  • 2 Oct 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, first of all I would like to apologize. You know hon. Kabogo’s Questions are usually quite heavy. The reason I was late was because I wanted the Government officers to provide me with a substantive answer, which would most probably have satisfied hon. Kabogo’s request. Without casting aspersion on the officers in my Ministry, I felt that they had not done a good job because there are certain questions I had asked, and they had promised that they would give me an answer that would satisfy hon. Kabogo. As you have ruled, given a chance until tomorrow, ... view
  • 2 Oct 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, to be sincere with you, one of the issues that came up is that when telephone calls were made through the telephone number that hon. Kabogo gave the Ministry, the people on the other end were speaking in Arabic. I made a request for the officials to get in touch with our Ambassador in Jeddah. I also asked them to get somebody in the Ministry in Nairobi who could speak Arabic because some of our officers can discuss things in Arabic, so that then there could be reasonable communication between the two parties for us to know ... view
  • 2 Oct 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, my apology, Sir. I had not realized that I had either misplaced my card or it was at the wrong place. However, I have a response. Hon. Outa had requested for a Ministerial Statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the death of Mr. Enos Ogada in Dubai. view
  • 2 Oct 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, it will be ready on Tuesday at 2.30 p.m. view
  • 20 Sep 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is indeed aware that the Government of Kenya had intended the campaign for Amb. Azad Rana for the position of Director General of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and informed His Excellency the Ambassador/Permanent Representative to the Kenya Mission to the United Nations in Vienna that the Ministry of Trade had committed Kshs10 million to assist in the financing. The Ministry is also aware that a budget of Kshs20,295,000 was agreed upon to facilitate this campaign. The reason Amb. Azad Rana has not been given these funds even when the Government ... view
