  • 31 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, if my colleague was to look at page 2 of the reply that we got from the embassy in Riyadh it states that:- “During the same contact by the Kenyan embassy in Riyadh with Ms. Githae on the 27th of May, 2012 the mission inquired about her working condition at her employers residence in relation to the demand of the family that she be repatriated back to Kenya. Ms. Githae categorically stated that she would wish to continue working for her employer so long as she is taken to hospital for treatment because her legs had ... view
  • 31 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Questions the Member asked was very specific. There was not a single request to the Ministry to show proof or evidence that this madam was being paid or not being paid. view
  • 31 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, if the Member and the House require further proof, I believe we can present it. view
  • 31 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I promise that by next week we will provide the necessary evidence. view
  • 31 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, it is true that we had made preparations and tickets were issued by KQ which earlier on - outside the Chamber - I discussed with the hon. Member. The reply that we got this morning from Zimbabwe because our Zimbabwe office is the one handling this matter for Mozambique, was that the children refused to leave Mozambique for the simple reason that the ashes of their mother which had been interred had not been released officially by the Mozambique Government and the children felt that it would not have been right for them to come without ... view
  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I am happy to announce to the House that the two young men who were meant to come back to Kenya are travelling to Kenya any time now. The tickets have been bought by the Kenyan Government. view
  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to table the ticket numbers and the times of arrival of the flights. view
  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, with the tireless effort of the Kenyan mission office in Harare and Ambassador Josephine Owuor, they have managed to have access to these two children. I am happy and proud to announce to the hon. Member for Juja, hon. Kabogo that his esteemed citizens will be in Kenya by tomorrow. view
  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I think the Member for Ikolomani has raised a critical point because the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a responsibility. It is true that the children will not be handed over to the grandmother. The law stipulates very clearly that they will be held and handed over to the Children’s Officer who will officially receive them. The officer will then hand them over to the grandmother. Basically, if there is any problem of red tape, it will take most probably a day. However, we have given instructions to the Children’s Officer for Nairobi and the ... view
  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs operates with maxim and trust that verify. We will trust that hon. Kabogo and the grandmother exist but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be in touch with the line Ministry as the law requires them to receive these children and then they will be handed over to the grandmother. If this will take 30 minutes, that will be done tomorrow. view
