  • 19 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: So, as I said, I rise to support this Bill. This Bill is very necessary to ensure that we provide the necessary finance to this Government to implement so many agendas which are pending. view

  • 19 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you. I am very excited that this Bill is proposing to introduce 1.5 per cent tax on all imported commodities to ensure that we build a standard gauge railway from Mombasa all the way to Busia or Malaba. This is because the railway system that we have is the one which we inherited from the colonialists. We have never done anything in the last 50 years to improve our infrastructure. • 19 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: morning as we come to work from the estates we spend two hours and then we also spend another two hours going back. If we do not do anything to improve the state of transport in this country, I think this economy will never grow and move to where the Asian Tigers are. We need to encourage them to go in that direction of sports. We need to encourage them to participate in athletics, football and all the other sports so that they can earn some income from them and also to reduce the level of idleness. When we go to the villages these days our youth are really exposed to alcoholism. They are taking lots of alcohol because of frustration. So, we must think of ways of ensuring that ... view

  • 6 Aug 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, we discussed this amendment in the Committee of Finance, Planning and Trade and approved it. When I asked why it was not part of the amendments that were to be dealt with, I was told that it was a typing error. So, I thought there was need for it to be reinstated in the Order Paper because amongst the basic common commodities for the common man is this one.
