With regard to C-Section, what has been recommended here came in as a result of a Petition by the Consumers Federation of Kenya (COFEK). They complained about a situation where a patient was admitted for less than 12 hours, lost her life and was charged Kshs900,000. This section was about the new terms, that is, midwife and nurses. The amendment proposes to change the name of the Act to read: “The Nurses and Midwives Act.” So, the amendment is necessary to remove the term “midwife” from the definition of the word “nurse” since it has been defined on its own.
