  • 29 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, he speaks to me in Kiswahili so I am just quoting. May 29, 2007 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 1691 It was very unfortunate that when we were sitting in this House, it was a good thing that FORD(P) and KANU were able to call Parliamentary Group (PG) meetings and discuss hon. Members. They had a meeting and minutes and go as far as having a list of people who attended that meeting. For us who are in NARC, there was no official invitation for the PG, no minutes, proposer or seconder. It was a sham! It was ... view

  • 23 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I do not think the Assistant Minister is aware of what is happening within his Ministry. Even in my constituency, there is a market called Ndere where they have promised and said for a long time--- They just dropped materials and left the site. He needs to have an audit and go around all those areas and the projects they are implementing to follow up. Could the Assistant Minister assure this House that he will go and get reports on all the projects that are going on in the country through his Ministry? He should also ... view
  • 23 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, recently PricewaterhouseCoopers was banned in Japan for cooking figures. When Uchumi Supermarkets shares collapsed after PricewaterhouseCoopers had done an audit of the firm, it is still operating in this country. What is the Assistant Minister doing to ensure that companies that are doing audits for companies that operate the stock exchange are banned in this country if they do not function properly? view
  • 17 May 2007 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for allowing me to contribute to this Bill. I remember the time when I was much younger, when I had just come out of school. I was employed by the Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited. Those were the days when labour laws were, really, followed more strictly than today. I remember that even within the institution I was in, you would find boards that defined to you the labour laws that regulated matters within the country. It is about time that as a nation and Parliament, we considered issues that ... view
  • 17 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I agree with you. However, the way these Bills are being rushed through, one after the other, there must be something that we are not being May 17, 2007 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 1459 told. I have never seen a situation where five Bills have been put on the Order Paper at the same time. There must be some speed somebody is looking at and trying to follow. So, we do not want to hide, or pretend, hide under something else, and yet there is something somebody is targeting ahead. We must be very clear and speak ... view
  • 17 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I know that there is an International Labour Organization (ILO) Conference which will be held very soon. So, let us not hide under the blanket. view
