  • 9 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I also rise to congratulate you following the coronation. Many Members may not know that Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga in Kiharu Constituency is home to the origin of Gikuyu and Mumbi and, therefore, by inference, I can say that I am a Member of the Kikuyu Community. Looking at the pecking order in this country, you are currently number three. After the President and the Vice- President, the third most powerful person is none other than Hon. J.B. Muturi. The coronation by the elders is commendable. You are astute and as a young politician and youth, I ... view

  • 9 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: who are looking forward to the kind of positions that you occupy, no one can even come close to where you are. As my mentor, our Speaker and leader, I am proud of you. Congratulations, Hon. Speaker, J.B. Muturi - the spokesperson of Mt. Kenya East Region. view
  • 3 Dec 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Motion. One of the tenets of a modern State is to have a strong bureaucracy. Also, it is the rule of law and accountability through democracy. Before I go to democracy, it is important to know that for a strong State to thrive, the bureaucracy must be based on merit, so that the people who work for the State are people who have been chosen on the basis of their ability and merit in a manner that was not personal, but based on patronage and altruism. Having ... view
  • 26 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for this chance. It is disappointing for me having read the Report of the Departmental Committee on Health. In my opinion, it is full of explanations for small things, verbosity and platitude. I would have preferred more far reaching recommendations. I say this knowing very well what has been happening in our country. As other Members before me have spoken, this is no longer about statistics and academics. It is more about victims and their families that have suffered through this pandemic. Many of us followed through the Committee’s sessions. The anger that we ... view
  • 26 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: this House: what is the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Health doing in office? We have seen in the Report that he wrote letters directing the management to give tenders to some companies. The honourable thing for PS Mochache to do is to step aside so that we have credible investigations. Also, in this House, the leadership of the Departmental Committee on Health has to be called to order. I have looked at the recommendations. I was waiting to see Meraky Health Care Company Limited. I know the official owners of that company are part of the leadership of ... view
  • 8 Oct 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I request that you give me permission to relax this mask. I rise to raise a matter of national importance. I watched television today. I am sure that all of us, as Members of Parliament, saw the escalation of violence that happened today in Nyamira County, where the Deputy President was going to preside over empowerment and church Harambees . view
  • 8 Oct 2020 in National Assembly: I rise because I also attended a church fundraiser on Sunday in my county in a place called Kenol. I witnessed the kind of violence that was meted out on the Christians by police officers who were using Government instruments. As a country, we are walking on a very slippery path. We, as a House, need to address this matter. We cannot have police officers…. view
  • 8 Oct 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support Hon. Gathiru on this Bill which is very robust. As a youth, even as we talk about retirement age… view
  • 8 Oct 2020 in National Assembly: I am a youth by definition given out by the United Nations (UN). You can even see that my face is glowing like a youth. I support this Bill even as we talk about retirement age. One, even before we grab the opportunities that are there, this country is lagging behind in terms of creating opportunities for the youth. That is why we have so many youths left behind, who can be misused by some people in this House like we saw in Murang’a, Hon. Sabina Chege hiring youth from slums in Kenya. view
