Mr. Temporary Chairperson, Sir, we rejected this amendment. The reason given is that it empowers a sponsor to make proposals and not recommendations for the review of the curriculum books and other teaching materials. We believe that the role of a sponsor should not be spiritual support. This is because Kenya is a liberal country that enjoys freedom of conscious, religion, believe and opinion under Article 32 of the Constitution. So, we are proposing to delete the word ‘spiritual’.

Mr. Temporary Chairperson, Sir, this is one of the clauses we are rejecting. The basis for the rejection is that there is need to provide a detailed qualification framework on the requirements for early childhood education for teachers.
