Hon. Speaker, we have had discussion with the hon. Member who is sponsoring this Bill. As you know, we have very many amendments. Yesterday, we discussed those amendments and she thought that she needs to have an input to her amendments. So, we agreed that we request you to exercise your powers contained in Standing Order No.42 to defer this matter to next week on Tuesday to allow the Committee to have interactions with hon. Millie Odhiambo so that we can conclude the matters that are outstanding with particular reference to the amendments that we have proposed as a Committee. ...

to possibly repeat what the Committee has already made proposals on in terms of amending. With regard to what he has just said, the serious objections that he has with regard to the “household,” “house help,” “an estranged spouse,” and “a former spouse”, if you look at the proposed amendments which are attached to the report of the Committee you will notice that, that has already been proposed for deletion. Hon. Speaker, may I take this opportunity, first and foremost, to thank all hon. Members who have contributed very positively to this Bill, including all those who made attempts to oppose it. The good thing is that they opposed it with conditions, that so long as the Committee is going to move amendments--- I would like to confirm that we have substantial amendments that we intend to move with regard to this Bill.
