  • 11 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Another problem is that we usually take our children to private ECDE centres where we pay more. I do not believe that there is an MP here who has a child in a public ECDE school. We always carry our children in a vehicle all the way to school. Some others airlift their children to school where they learn in comfort and come back in the evening to the village where they do not interact with the others. If we could just come down and ensure that, as leaders of this country, we put more attention to this area of ... view
  • 18 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to join my colleagues to support this Report. I come from a region where youth are struggling to earn a living. They are starting families and want to equate themselves to other youths in other parts of the country. When the initiators of this programme started it, they had that good heart of improving the living standards of the youth and also empower Kenyans economically. That is because those are energetic people. I also know that the intention of that programme is to challenge and change the minds of youth ... view
  • 18 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: they now want to destroy the lives of others. Their motive is also to destroy the intentions of the good Government that wants to ensure that its citizens do better, especially on the economy. view
  • 18 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: We should support this Report as a House and ensure that the implementation is done. Let us see those people in jail. Let them also serve as an example so that others cannot do that. It was so good when the NYS issues were brought up by the former Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Devolution and Planning. When you go to Lang’ata and parts of Sigor where the people from the Pokot community were fighting with the Turkana all the time, you will find that the youth who were engaged in NYS programmes in that place are now busy working and ... view
  • 6 Jul 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this chance to join my colleagues in thanking the Member who brought this wonderful Motion. I support what others have said. I come from Kapenguria. In Kapenguria, there are about three or four good permanent rivers where fish is in plenty. We also have Turkwel Dam which is big and has very good fish. However, the harvesters are not there. Members have mentioned Kalokol in Lake Turkana, which around the early 1980s had plenty of fish and very good cold storage facilities. It was like a processing factory. It is now ... view
  • 6 Jul 2016 in National Assembly: Turkana, Pokot and the Karamojong because we have been branded as cattle rustlers. You have seen how Kenyans suffer in Lake Victoria because of this issue of fish. The Government is there but it is not doing anything. It is my appeal that we take a strong stand on this matter in this House so that Kenyans can get their livelihoods. This is one area that can empower Kenyans on an economical side. Things are not like they were before. You have seen what has happened in Europe. We should not neglect those areas. Those people also need care from ... view
  • 22 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to also join my colleagues who are in support of this Bill. During the colonial period, Kapenguria was a closed district. I cannot understand the reasons. Those who came and opened the eyes of the members of that community came through Uganda. That is why, sometimes, we have a lot of respect for Ugandans than Kenyans. After we attained Independence, in 1965, Sessional Paper No.10 brought a lot of harm to the people in that region. They classified Kenya into two regions, namely, productive areas where you ... view
  • 22 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: came from. We protected Kenyatta and the other five freedom fighters for seven years. He went to Lodwar and when he came back, he became the President of Kenya. However, nobody is thinking about the museum which has the cells and the African court. The other day when Hon. Eugene Wamalwa went there, we called for the upgrading of the museum because it is where the founder of the nation was while he was alive. We are giving a lot of care to the grave instead of where everything good came from. We should fly our flags there and not ... view
  • 3 May 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I support the amendment proposed by the Member for Turkana County. This is something that can help. The issue she has raised cuts across the board. It is not for a small area. It also covers a bigger area. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
