  • 10 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Before I proceed, I want to appreciate and recognise the man of the moment who is Hon. Ndindi Nyoro. Let us give him a rousing welcome. While I am on my feet, I also want to congratulate Hon. Ndindi Nyoro for his confidence and the manner in which he has handled issues that have surrounded the representation of his constituency of Kiharu. We thank you and say that, Hon. Ndindi Nyoro, you should stand firm and steadfast in efforts to ensure that you represent your people effectively, without intimidation and without any coercion. That is to ensure the people of ... view
  • 10 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I want to go back to business and say that the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing ensured that it looked at the amendments and had an opportunity to go through it very carefully, very articulately and very diligently. That is so that the security of the one who is on board, boarding or landing is protected. This is in line with the various Acts and legislations that we looked at. As the Chairman has said, we ensured that Article 118(1) of the Constitution which is in respect of public participation was adhered to. ... view

  • 10 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me a chance to second this very critical Motion. The bilateral air services agreements between Kenya and the five countries are very critical to our country. You would note that the Chairman has been very elaborate in articulating the various issues that are contained in the Motion. I do not want to belabor, but I want to say one or two things. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 10 Sep 2019 in National Assembly: Once these agreements are ratified, they will become part of our Kenyan laws as envisaged in Article 26 of our Constitution. In that light, it is extremely clear that once we ratify the agreements, we will have direct flights by some of our carriers like the Kenya Airways, to the various destinations like Cambodia, Burkina Faso, the Republic of Finland and the Hellenic Republic of Greece. Multiple advantages or benefits will derive to us in ensuring that we have articulated this. One, there obviously will be new horizons and routes for our carrier, the Kenya Airways. We will expand our ... view
  • 26 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me a chance to add my voice to this very important amendment. First and foremost, I congratulate my colleague, Hon. Waititu, for coming up with this timely amendment to the law on contract. What is evident is that people borrow money on the understanding that they would make good use of it. Unfortunately, many people borrow without having a good business model in place to enable them do business. Consequently, the businesses fail. Commercial banks are always interested in making profit. They are interested in ensuring that they make quick gains from ... view
  • 25 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to also add my voice in applauding the President for a speech that was well done. One of the first things that I want to appreciate His Excellency the President for is the recognition or reassurance that the state of the nation is strong and that we would continue as a country to thrive by embracing fairness, integrity and the rule of law which should be observed by each and every Kenyan. I want to also state that we are delighted that as a country, our men and women ... view
  • 25 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: their facts right so that at the end of the day we should not have the agencies that are dealing with investigations—the DCI, DPP, EACC—doing what we call shoddy investigations. At the end of the day when they appear before courts of law, they expect to get conviction. The courts that we have are supposed to be fair, independent and they are supposed to give verdicts that would actually support…. view
  • 3 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: on a point of order, Hon. Speaker. Hon. Jimmy Angwenyi, you were not here when the matter started. So, you may not know what is in order or what is out of order. You came in when the matter was in progress. view
  • 3 Apr 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Members, even as I allow a few of you to make limited comments, the Bill that has been proposed by the Member for Kiharu is an amendment to the Anti-Corruption and Economics Act No.3 of 2003. Even if Hon. Ndindi Nyoro may have also imagined that the Bill deals with the DPP and the DCI, whatever that means, it does not. Even if Hon. Nyoro said he is clipping the wings of the DCI, the Bill does not clip any wings. In fact, there are no wings proposed to be clipped in this Bill. Even if Hon. Wanga was ... view
