  • 19 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, Sir, the initial purpose of this Fund was to support the women and the youth. I am asking for inclusiveness. We have a youth representing the male and we should also have a youth representing the females. That is all I am asking because we need to include the young women in the decision-making on this Fund, so that they can own it. I urge this House to support this. The youths are watching and listening to what I am saying and will see the response of Members of Parliament. This is a request from the ... view
  • 6 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. It is very unfortunate and unbearable to talk about this Motion on violence against women. This is something that touches some of us very deeply. We know that there are many NGOs and other civil society groups which champion these issues, but I do not see what they do. We cannot even see what they do. We need to discuss this matter. We are the law makers and we need to do something about this. It is not something we can just ignore. We need to act very quickly. ... view

Talking about my county, I represent Garissa County where garbage is disposed off in the streets and everywhere between the plots and houses. That garbage can cause serious health outbreaks in human beings because if animals eat garbage - which includes paper bags, condoms and all the nasty things - it ... view
  • 24 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Pregnant women who live near dumpsites can give birth to babies with defects. This is not a laughing matter. We are discussing a serious issue. Hon. Millie-Odhiambo is disturbing me, please. Garbage disposal causes a lot of damage on our environment, soil and even water contamination. I beg to support. Hon. Millie-Odhiambo upset me a little bit. view

  • 24 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: (Hon. (Ms.) Gure): Hon. Speaker, Sir, I want to echo what my colleagues have said. Garissa was once a peaceful town in East Africa. Now, it has become a little Mogadishu. Things changed all of a sudden after the Kenya Government decided to go to Kismayu. As the people of Garissa, we are blaming the Government for going there. That is when the problem started. The operation is going view
