  • 29 Jun 2023 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, we are not allowed to be imputing ulterior or bad motives on our colleagues here. Can the Senator withdraw because he does not realize he was on HANSARD. He has insinuated that members of the Opposition have relieved him of some of his property. Now that it has been found, I think he needs to withdraw and apologise. We are not thieves. view
  • 29 Jun 2023 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, indeed, I want to join my colleagues to support the Motion that is before the House this afternoon. Twenty five years is a very long time for people to wait for justice. I am sure that many of the victims of the bomb blast in that happened on 7th, August, 1998, have lost hope. When it happened, I was 16 years old. From that time, we have had a lot of efforts being directed towards getting justice for the victims of the August 7th Bombing but nothing has happened up to date. It is a national shame ... view

  • 29 Jun 2023 in Senate: As the Senator for Nairobi, I will support in any way I can. I am available for you in the event you need any support. However, for the love of our people and for the respect of the time that they have waited for this to happen, I really pray that something is done. Madam Temporary Speaker, I know that Members of the Committee will not fail on this one. They must succeed and bring closure to these families the pain they endured on 7th August, 1998, so that it does not continue. I support. view

  • 26 Jun 2023 in Senate: Mr. Speaker Sir, there is something that my colleague from Kiambu County has said and I believe it cannot be allowed to stick. He must also withdraw the assertion that, in fact, we have been refusing to attend certain sessions. view
  • 26 Jun 2023 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, kindly protect me. I would want us to refer to Standing Order--- view
  • 26 Jun 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Pursuant to Standing Order No.103, we are not allowed to be discussing matters that are the subject of a court proceeding. It is a matter of record that in fact the reason why the Minority side does not attend sessions including foreigners and strangers to this House is because we have filed a suite on principal, objecting to the presence of Cabinet Secretaries in the Senate. Mr. Speaker, Sir, as you are aware, the Minority side are the plaintiffs and the Clerk as a representative of this House is a respondent. Therefore, for him to ... view
  • 26 Jun 2023 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, allow me to begin as my colleague has done, by thanking the Members of the Committee for a job very well done. Regarding that small discussion that was going on about page 11 and its contents, I have only one observation to make, that in fact, we have a rule on evidence that is known as the parole evidence rule; that immediately anything has been reduced into writing, oral evidence is not acceptable to explain the contents of a document. Nothing could have stopped Members of the Committee who felt, for instance, that they do not agree ... view
