I do not think anyone of us would want to find themselves in a situation where there are three of you on a bed and you are in labour. What is the mental status of a person in such circumstances? view
• 8 Nov 2022 in Senate: We have to look at this problem holistically. We understand that we have problems in our facilities. We have been told horror stories such as 128 women who gave birth at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital and they had only one nurse attending to them. view
• 8 Nov 2022 in Senate: I do not thing that something as beautiful as childbirth should result in the sort of trauma that affect the people who seek those services. Therefore, I would like to expand this Motion to include counselling for the fathers because of the example I have given you. view

(Dr.) Khalwale’s, the conditions are conducive that even the fathers are allowed in to witness and welcome their own children. I do not think that is an invitation that Sen. • 27 Oct 2022 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I rise to support the Statement by the Chair of the Committee on Energy. As a way of illustration, this afternoon, my assistant purchased Kshs100 worth tokens. This is the average amount of tokens purchased by a Nairobi City County hustler. Out of that, we only got 3.9 units of electricity. The token amount is Kshs49.13, meaning that 51 per cent of the money that a hustler uses to buy electricity goes to taxes and levies. Out of that, the fuel energy charge is Kshs27. view

In fact, this country entered into very expensive TECO pay deals with IPPs who rely on thermal energy to produce electricity and that is finishing our people. For instance, in Nairobi City County, the most critical case is Mukuru kwa Reuben people who rely on informal power connections because the former and current employees of Kenya Power (KP), especially at the Nairobi South Office, have forced them to do so.
