  • 10 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I stand to second the Report of the Departmental Committee on Lands and Natural Resources as has been presented by my Chairman, Mr. Musyimi. The Committee undertook various visits to all these areas which had disputes especially the land disputes. These include the forest areas in Ontulili, lower Imenti forests and Kimangili slaughterhouse. There has been rampant grabbing of land and title irregularly issued. The registrars of lands in these areas are generating other green cards other than the original ones. So, the Committee has recommended to this House that the illegal title deeds that have been ... view
  • 9 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me an opportunity to also support this Bill. I want to echo the words of my colleagues who have thanked the Minister. I am sure he is one of the very honest Ministers that we have in this Tenth Parliament. This is because he listens to the voices of MPs and does what they want to hear. Therefore, this Bill is what is being awaited so much at the county level because there are a lot of expectations by Kenyans with regard to what the county assemblies are going to offer Kenyans. ... view
  • 9 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also stand to support the Motion and say that the Minister is doing a very good job to see that farmers reap the benefits of their products. That is because the write-offs have happened in the coffee industry and now, it is happening in the sugar industry. Farmers feel very much encouraged because they can see that, at the end of the day, what they produce will fetch good prices because the burden of carrying over the debts will not be on them anymore. However, I would urge that the management of those factories, once ... view
  • 9 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also rise to support this Motion knowing the importance of air travel. We have seen a country like South Africa taking a very big share of air travel because their airport is one of the biggest and its view
  • 9 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I stand to support the amendment because it is not right for people just to eliminate a person because they do not want them by alleging things that are not known by the person. These issues come up view

  • 2 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Bill. Before I do so, I also want to convey my New Year greetings to you, my colleagues in Parliament and to my constituents of North Imenti Constituency. Dr. Robert Monda has done us proud because this is a very important Bill which should have been enacted at the time when we entered this Parliament. He is the Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Health. He has gone round the country listening to the cries of Kenyans. I think that is why he has ... view
  • 2 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, if you look at the Order Paper, you will appreciate that there are so many crucial Bills that have not been passed and this Parliament has very limited time before it adjourns, so that we can go back to election. Although I feel as much that Parliament is being pushed, it is also our responsibility to do the business that is ahead of us, which is set out in the Order Paper. Therefore, I support that we extend our time of doing business. view
  • 2 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I also rise to support the Bill because chiefs, assistant chiefs, DCs and County Commissioners have done a very commendable job in ensuring that there is security in the villages and in the locations. The District Security Committees (DSCs) are doing a very commendable job. If we do not have the Provincial Administration the coordination between the President and the common man at the grassroots level will not be there. The President is seeking votes from the ordinary citizen right at the grassroots and he needs to reach that ordinary Kenyan for his ... view
  • 19 Dec 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I heard the Minister say that the nurses should be arrested because the strike is illegal and that they are violent. What is the role of the Ministry of Labour which should mediate between the Ministry of Medical Services and the trade union to see that there is an amicable solution to this problem? Strikes do not just happen. There must be a reason for them to happen. view
