  • 12 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this chance to contribute to this very important Motion. The creation of the Ministry of State for Development of Northern Kenya and other Arid Lands is the first and only attempt by the Government of Kenya to acknowledge and address historical marginalization and continued under-development of the region. In this respect, I would like to take this golden opportunity to thank His Excellency the President, hon. Mwai Kibaki and the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, Mr. Raila, for creating this Ministry. This Ministry has historical significance to the people of northern ... view
  • 12 Aug 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for record purposes, I want to oppose the Motion as amended by the Assistant Minister, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance by removing the word “marginalisation”. He is running away from responsibility. I want it to be recorded because this was historical view
  • 30 Jul 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this chance to contribute to this important Vote. From the outset, I would like to support this Motion. I wish to take this chance to thank the Ministry and its technocrats for creatively trying to address issues of energy in our country. When the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance read the Budget, he mentioned the theme as, “Overcoming Today’s view
  • 29 Jul 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this very important Vote. As you know, education is the foundation stone for all development. Education is the most important thing in building the capacity of our human resource sector. It is a tool view

  • 28 Jul 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me the chance to contribute to this very important Vote. From the outset, I want to congratulate the two Ministers for working very hard under very difficult circumstances and with limited resources. I also want to congratulate the Ministries for devolving their resources to the constituency level. This is a step towards the right direction. Some of us have always complained about public resources being shared amongst powerful people. This time round, resources are going to the constituency level and we appreciate that development. view
  • 28 Jul 2009 in National Assembly: The proposal to recruit 20 nurses for each constituency is a step towards the right direction. Bicycles and motorcycles might be seen as a small thing by some people but we, the women of this country, see this as a big thing, because the motorcycles and bicycles will be used for community outreach programmes, which will serve the women and children of this country. So, we thank and congratulate the Ministries for that development. view
  • 28 Jul 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, healthcare is a key issue in relation to the well-being of our country and society. I feel that the Budget that was presented to us in this House provides very limited resources. The Ministries have not reached the international healthcare targets, to which requirement Kenya is a signatory, so that we could get proper health facilities and management. view
  • 28 Jul 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, with those remarks, I beg to support. view
  • 24 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, as much as I appreciate the concerns the Minister has raised particularly on having an alternative means of reaching out to North Eastern Province; he especially talked of special mobile programmes. What criteria is he going to use in the provision of mobile health facilities? How does he intend to reach those places? In the current intake of students to the KMTC, there are regional gaps that already exist. What affirmative action is the Minister taking to bring on board the people from northern Kenya? view
