or discount claims of pure business rivalry.” We are dealing with people’s lives in this case and as the people’s representatives, we cannot assume that we are going to go for the board and leave the particular doctor continue to practise. That is why we have put it very clearly in our Report that the board immediately cancels the speciality recognition of Dr. Soni and follows the laid down procedure of recommendation. Committees in this House do a thorough job, table reports and those reports are adopted by the House. It is not the business of the Committee to follow ...

When we were investigating this, we found that there were several wanting issues with regard to foreign doctors. We put the board to task to deal with the issues coming up with regard to foreign doctors. The board has committed to the Committee and assured Kenyans that they will do everything. There are doctors who have been checked into the country by various local doctors. They check in on a Friday, run some clinics over the weekends or in between the week in some hotels, yet Kenyans do not get proper services. These foreign doctors refer Kenyans to India on ...

I cannot put it any better than President Obama did. He said that it is unwise to have half of your team not playing. We must have a full team in this country to play this game to make sure that Kenya develops for all of us and not just for a particular gender. Equality is not about our sisters alone. I can be a prophet of doom. If the male Members of Parliament in this House do not support this Bill, in the next 15 or 20 years, we will be subjected to such a Bill. We need to ...

Hon. Speaker, you know you are my teacher. I stand guided. I wish all the men, including my party leader Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka, can step down for a woman. We need to be very clear. Our party leaders and the church have spoken. It is for Members of Parliament to make the legacy. We cannot be in this House for fame. We must give very clear direction of the kind of a nation we want to walk with.

Allow me to quote Pope Francis. He said that women are important voices in today’s society. Sometimes, we are too chauvinistic. We do not make room for women. Women are able to see things differently from men. They ask questions that men do not get. Without much ado, I know quite a number of Members of this House want to support this Bill. Let us move forward and make sure that we enact this legislation as quickly as possible. If possible, we make amendments to make sure those who are nominated join us before we close the chapter of this ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I thank the honourable Member for Lamu for bringing up this issue of fish within our country. Sometimes, it becomes very difficult to understand this country where we have resources and yet we do not utilise them to benefit Kenyans. Instead our resources benefit other people. It is painful especially for the people who live in the Coast and the Nyanza areas because they have the potential to use their resources to earn a living and also produce and empower themselves economically. It is high time the Ministry of Agriculture and the Department of ...
