  • 27 Mar 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me the chance to talk about the President's Speech. I have been here since 2.30 p.m. and I have been listening to my colleagues contribute. What surprises me is that, some hon. Members are now not behaving like hon. Members of Parliament, but horrible Members of Parliament. I am sorry to mention that. I get surprised when somebody stands up to talk about a vehicle which somebody has bought. What has that got to do with our contribution in Parliament? A vehicle like a Hummer is a very cheap vehicle that ... view

  • 27 Mar 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, leaving aside the Hummer vehicle, let me talk about education. We must now start taking our education system more seriously. I thank the Ministry of Education for the effort they have made in providing free education. However, looking at the free education, you find a teacher teaching 100 pupils in a March 27, 2007 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 147 classroom. This does not make sense, particularly when it comes to Standard One, Two or Three and yet we expect good performance from those classes. It is high time we provided quality free education. I am urging the ... view

  • 23 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Health what plans she has with regard to health centres constructed in Ugenya Constituency through the Constituencies Development Fund and have no personnel. view
  • 23 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am glad that the Assistant Minister has given that answer. However, I did not get a copy of the written reply. I do not know if what he has said is the correct information or not. Could I get a copy of the written reply? view
  • 23 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister did not include all the health centres that I requested him. He has only mentioned Sumenya and Sega. But I asked him to report about Barndege, Sikalami and Nyang'u health centres. view
  • 8 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Education:- (a) if he is aware that there is a huge shortage of teachers in schools throughout Ugenya Constituency as a result of which schools such as Sifuyo Primary School with classes one to eight have only five teachers; and, (b) what he is doing to correct the situation. view
  • 8 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Assistant Minister for the efforts he has made with regard to Sifuyo Primary School. However, even last year, the Assistant Minister promised the House that they would transfer teachers to the same school. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, today, he is talking about transferring teachers there by the end of November, 2006. So, which one is the truth; what he told the House last time and did not do, or what he has told us today? view
  • 8 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, in his answer, the Assistant Minister said that Ugenya has got 34 secondary schools and that they have already deployed ten teachers to Ugenya. I do not know whether this is true, but I trust him. Is the Assistant Minister aware that eight teachers from Ukwala Secondary School were promoted to be headteachers and they have not been replaced up to now, which is almost one year? view
