  • 3 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this very innovative Motion.I would like to support this initiative. This Bill is going to open up what people have always considered to be a mystery. Central Bank has always remained a mystery to many people. If they lower the denomination and the people are able to participate in the purchase of securities, this will ensure that Central Bank is able to mop up all the money that has been staffed away in mattresses in homes. More so, the poor people have very little money to purchase ... view
  • 3 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Therefore, this is something that will help us in this country to mop up all the money that is lying around. It will help us to encourage the local person or the ordinary mwanachi to embrace a culture that has not been there in this country for a long time. We would like to encourage ordinary people to save in the right way. They can purchase Government securities and save their money in an open way. The country will be able to get more money to undertake the various projects that we intend to carry out in this country. The ... view

I come from a county that consumes huge amounts of fertilizer. Nzoia Sugar Factory is on its death bed because of the poor supplies of fertilizers that has been done in the country. Its distribution is very poor. Due to this, I think that with this amendment of the Bill and the board being created, it will help quite a lot to ensure that the fertilizer that is imported into this country is of the right quantity and quality and, before it is taken to various areas of our country, it is tested so ... view

  • 18 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I would like to support the amendment which I think is long overdue. • 18 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: savings. But now, with the introduction of the protection fund at the Central Bank, Kenyans had the confidence in banks and they went back in savings with the banks. With the amendment on the Bill on deposit insurance, it is going to strengthen the confidence in Kenyans who did not have confidence in insurance companies. As such, they will start doing meaningful business with the insurance companies which has been lacking. Indeed, with the amendment and introduction of the deposit protection, people are now going to save. The country will be able to raise the required funds for investments instead ... view
  • 8 May 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. My names are Suleiman Murunga, the Member for Kimilili. I rise to interrogate and support some of the proposals in this Bill. I would like to say that some of the Estimates that have been prepared are way below what Kenyans expected. This is especially with the allocations made to the Teachers Service Commission and health services. We have not provided enough money to these areas and Kenyans look forward to Parliament to make sure that whatever is being allocated is sufficient enough to support the services that we intend to provide. view
