  • 12 Aug 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I rise to ask Question No. 160/2020 to the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Health: (i) Are there plans by the Ministry to trace street families with pre-existing health conditions and diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, chronic heart diseases, asthma, cystic fibrosis, cancer, arthritis, alzheimer, epilepsy, Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS), mood disorders (bipolar, cyclothymic and depression), amongst other conditions, particularly towards the fight against Covid-19 pandemic? (ii) Has the Ministry provided adequate handwashing points or stations, sanitation booths and masks to street families to curb the spread of the virus amongst those ... view

  • 1 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, my question is this: (i) Could the Cabinet Secretary consider increasing the number of staff at Kakamega Lands Office Registry which is over-stretched as it serves all the 12 sub-counties in Kakamega County? (ii) Would the Cabinet Secretary consider fast-tracking issuance of land title deeds at the Kakamega Lands Office? Thank you, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 13 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: You tried. If you go with Bishop it is easier. I will not ask for an offering from you. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this important Motion on diagnostic testing, screening and treatment of diabetes in work places and community settings. I agree with the honourable Members that have already contributed on the Floor that our lifestyle in this country has really changed. Looking around, most families do not cook food. Many of them depend on fast foods. I am not trying to demonise any food chain in this country but ... view
  • 13 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: not eat. Those who are free from diabetes, apart from just adopting exercises, we should rethink our lifestyles, what we eat and consume. Living in Nairobi, I have found myself being tempted. I live on Mombasa Road. There is a KFC at Total and when driving back to the house, it is easier for me to go in and pick a few chicken drumsticks. Being a Luhya, I like chicken. We keep consuming all these deep-fried foods and nyama choma . Our lifestyles have to change. As leaders, we must be at the forefront even when we have gatherings at ... view
  • 13 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, we should also think about our village elders. In fact, I have seen there is a Motion on village elders. They can disseminate information effectively. We should be thinking and when we get to the other Motion we will talk about it, but in this situation, village elders and community workers are very important people and component of our society. view
  • 13 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Therefore, I stand to support this Motion because diabetes used to be an alien ailment. Diabetes was something that was foreign, but today, in every village and in every town we have victims of diabetes or people who live with diabetes. It is becoming a catastrophe and a horrible disease claiming people’s lives and making it hard for them. Such people would have been more productive but have to fight diabetes day to day yet we have measures we can put in place such as giving educative lessons or things we can do to combat diabetes. I pray that God ... view

  • 6 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I thank my brother, Hon. Barasa. I stand to support the Motion on development and implementation of regulations for management of fares charged by public service vehicles. I represent a constituency that has Kakamega Town. All my life, I have used public transport, like buses and matatus . It is very important that the House makes sure that the chaos in the matatu industry is brought to an end. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I also want you to know that I used to be a preacher in buses. I ... view
  • 19 Feb 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Could the Chairperson explain the policy on deployment of teachers and delocalisation of management of learning institutions? view
