21 Dec 2011 in National Assembly:
Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to assure you and this House knows that I engage Members of Parliament. As the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, I do not know whether there has been a Minister for Finance who has engaged committees of this House as much as I have engaged them. The only reason I am saying what I am saying and the hon. Member is, indeed, a Member of the Departmental Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade and he will participate--- I do believe that had we engaged the relevant Committee, we would have found a ...

21 Dec 2011 in National Assembly:
Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, as I conclude, mine is to say that let us use this break to recharge ourselves and to allow these tempers like I have now to cool so that we can engage ourselves in a sober and level headed manner. At the end of the day, I think the interest of this House is the people of the Republic of Kenya. If we were to work together, I have no doubt that we will find a solution that will take Kenya forward. With those few remarks, I beg to support.

15 Dec 2011 in National Assembly:
Thank you for this opportunity to contribute to this particular Motion. I would like, first and foremost, to congratulate the Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs for the speed at which they have been working since they were reconstituted. It shows that we have missed a lot of things that would have happened earlier had this Committee been in place. I want to congratulate them for that. However, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the contents of this particular Report is not what I can support. It is very clear even when you go through the Report on every nominee that ...

15 Dec 2011 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I appreciate that but the truth of the matter still remains. If it is the question of ability and commitment, it should always be the person who is number one who is selected. There can be no other reason in a society if what we are looking for is the best that we have in the country and that is the word that was used. He is the best that we have. If he is the best, then the best is always number one. I have never seen a school where a person ...

6 Dec 2011 in National Assembly:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, as you have correctly stated, when answering this Question, we offered to sit with the PAC and go through this matter in further detail. As he has correctly said, we are still willing to appear before the PAC as I had previously indicated, but we need clearance on the issue that the hon. Member has himself raised, so that we know how to proceed. From the Ministry’s point of view, we are still willing to appear before the PAC.
