  • 29 Aug 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I was a bit worried when you called the Mover to reply. In the morning, I set off from Nyeri County very early to come and contribute to this debate. Mr. Speaker, Sir, all of us who are sitting in this House were elected. We know it is important to have a conversation. I wish to challenge us that now that we have agreed to embrace dialogue, moving forward, we wish to see the Minority side sitting, listening and fronting questions when Cabinet Secretaries come here. It is quite unfortunate. I urge the team that ... view
  • 29 Aug 2023 in Senate: I recommend that we expunge the name of “Ms. Eunce Wamalwa” and replace with Sen. Wambua, who we know is committed to delivering this country. As I sit down, I wish to say that it is important that we have the right people in the right table so that we move forward. I support. view
  • 10 Aug 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I think it is prudent that you rule on what Sen. Dullo requested. Looking up there, I can see that there are young school-going children. view

  • 10 Aug 2023 in Senate: Thank you, very much, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I rise to second this Motion. I sat in the Committee that discussed the conduct of Sen. Gloria Orwoba, MP. What I must say is regardless, we must know that we are all colleagues in this place. We have a collective responsibility to take care of the reputation of this House, and the reputation of its Members. We also have a collective and moral obligation to ensure that the standard of this House, as seen by the public out there, does not become affected in whichever way. It is my observation and ... view
  • 10 Aug 2023 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, we must never forget that people out there look at us as the pace setters and role models. When there are issues that we must discuss, be it on social media or on the Floor of the House, let us not forget that out there, people are watching us debating. We must ensure that we do not in any way undermine the responsibility, privileges and even the dignity that is associated with being hon. Members. view
  • 10 Aug 2023 in Senate: Being an hon. Member has a lot of responsibilities. Most importantly, when we have the Public Gallery, pupils and students come here to learn. Let them learn from the best. I believe there are channels through which we can air our grievances. We can differ in opinion and principles, but hold and treat each other with a lot of decorum. It is important for this House to commit itself to upholding the traditions, dignity and image that is seen by those people out there. My humble submission is that the collective responsibility we have when walk inside that door, must ... view

  • 2 Aug 2023 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I also rise to support the Motion by the Senator for Baringo County, Sen. Cheptumo. Indeed, it is time that we, as Kenyans, aligned ourselves knowing that as a nation, our diversity does not matter because it is being used to oppress others. We need to embrace our diversity and know that in it we can draw a lot of strength. I have listened to Sen. Mungatana seconding the Motion. Indeed, it is sad that 60 years after Independence, we are still fighting the same battle of marginalisation. As he rightly stated, colonialists walked out and ... view
