  • 1 Mar 2023 in Senate: Going into the new approach of PPPs, the question arises, we should ask ourselves this question. How do we address the issue of compensation in an equation where you are bringing in an investor? Mr. Speaker, Sir, it is my request to this House that we look at this issue with a lot of sobriety. We should ask ourselves, moving forward, how we get development - which we need - if we make land such an emotive issue that is costly and makes it unaffordable for investors that we are trying to attract? view
  • 1 Mar 2023 in Senate: As much as I support that the people be moved in a humane way, I also think that it is high time we started looking at the issue of land and detaching it from the emotional attachment associated with it. This is not a social welfare state where we are able to pay for everything. At the end of the day, when we talk about the people of Buxton, maybe it is a few rich people who went ahead and secured the houses. It is not the tenants who benefit. It is high time we relooked at the issue of ... view

Therefore, putting in ... view
  • 23 Feb 2023 in Senate: . It was passed and agreed upon, but there is no mechanism to follow up on what transpired. If we only debate and pass resolutions, yet we do not have timelines and apportion responsibility, then most of the work that we do here will end up being wastage of taxpayers’ money and turning around in circles without moving forward. As has been stated, the Constitution of Kenya promulgated in 2010 is not static. The laws that have been passed so far are not static. Today’s changing times requires that we move with speed and look at things as they are ... view

  • 21 Feb 2023 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, before I proceed, let me say that this Friday, I will be laying to rest one of my nephews whom I lost through a road accident at the age of 21. Therefore, I feel that this Motion is very important to us. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to give notice of the following Motion: THAT, AWARE THAT 67 per cent of road crash fatalities and injuries in the country comprise of the economically productive age groups of between 15 and 64 years, and that the importance of good post- crash care reduces deaths and disability ... view
