  • 1 Sep 2016 in National Assembly: I urge Members to support this. I would not like to leave out the immigration issue. This is a negotiation and a negotiation is for mutual agreement. The British and the Government of Kenya are on this table. The British Government should also be flexible enough so that we remain long-time friends. The issue of immigration should be looked at in a more flexible manner. That is because, sometimes, it has been very mechanical and visas have been an issue. Personally, I do not have an experience in that, but I know that Kenyans have been struggling, especially students. view

  • 1 Sep 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I support Hon. Chepkong’a. I am surprised that Hon. Wanga wants us to be called maitu wa kaunti or mama county women representative. Those are street names yet, in the Constitution it is very clear. view

  • 1 Sep 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Members, someone can go to the court after elections and declare there were no votes for those who are coming as women representatives like me because there is no such word in the Constitution. Kindly let us put it the way it is in the Constitution. view

  • 31 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to support this Bill as we enter into the annals of history of this country for guiding it the right way. I am now a history maker in Kenya. I want to urge other Members to think in that direction. This is a good Bill, but I would like to say something about Clause 14(2) of the Bill. It is all about collecting and announcing results from each polling station in the constituency for the election of the President, Governor, Senator, and County Women Representative. The name “County Women Representative” was a ... view
  • 31 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: translate it in Kiswahili as mama county to ask for votes. Article 97(b) of the Constitution clearly states that there shall be 47 women Members elected in each county. The Speaker’s ruling referred to them as Women County Members of Parliament. I want to support this Bill in totality mainly because it is very friendly. The Bill states that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will conduct elections. Most Members are scared because of the madness and chaos in party nominations. If we have professional and reputable bodies, I am sure those people who are defeated will accept the ... view
  • 25 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I stand to support this Bill, which is indeed timely considering that our country is slowly moving to a betting culture. It is unfortunate that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has not identified the sources of the money. It is also very unfortunate that mama mbogas and boda boda riders are being pushed to pay taxes as millions of shillings are being repatriated overseas. view
  • 25 Aug 2016 in National Assembly: I see the Betting and Control Board, who are supposed to be regulating this sector, as part and parcel of the casinos. Why do I say this? I imagine that they are creative enough to come up with regulations before they give permits or licences to casino owners. They should set aside some shareholding for Kenyans so that part of the money they make can remain in this country. view
