Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Motion. As my friend, Hon. Chris Wamalwa, has indicated this country has had a problem of having very good reports and plans that go unimplemented. I must mention that a few weeks ago, we passed an urban development policy. I do suppose these kinds of issues must have been addressed in that policy because it becomes a critical urban problem that we must address in totality. Many of us have lived in Nairobi for long enough to know the frustrations we go through whenever we have an emergency requiring us ...

Hon. Speaker, I rise to support the amendment Bill. However, before I do so, I must say that my heart bleeds when an educated Member like Hon. Sankok diverts from the business before the House and wastes parliamentary time on irrelevant issues. Nevertheless, it is not surprising. Probably, we need to start asking questions. This Bill is long overdue. The challenges and the problems that the county governments are facing are becoming embarrassing to some extent. Services have generally come to a halt. Hospitals are suffering, schools are suffering, roads are not being repaired and basic services are not being ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me an opportunity to contribute to this Motion. Indeed, urbanization, as many have said, is the precursor for development. No country in this world has developed without urbanisation and I think the policy on urban development is critical because urbanisation goes hand in hand with development even though urbanisation as a concept is much wider as opposed to mere development. Indeed, when you look at the demographic statics in this country you realize that there has been rapid urbanisation and it is bound to continue. With the dwindling fortunes and opportunities in ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I have been waiting for the whole afternoon such that I almost doubted technology. First, I rise to support the subject matter in discussion but before I make any comments, let me join my colleagues, Kenyans and the people of Nyeri to send my condolences to the family of Dr. Wahome Gakuru, the former governor of Nyeri. Also on behalf of the people of Funyula, the same goes to the people that have lost their lives in this month of November when we Catholics remember the departed souls. We particularly remember those who have ...

I particularly want to draw our attention to the fact that when we were young, in my constituency of Funyula, we had predictable weather patterns. Of late, crop failure as a result of lack of rain has become a recurrent issue every year. Of course, as a community we want to commend the youths who have taken it up upon themselves to plant trees in order to avoid the rapid rate of deforestation. I believe we need to address the issues at hand and I sincerely wish the Ministry will liaise with the county governments since most of the environmental ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for this opportunity. I stand here to support the Adjournment Motion. Indeed, we the people of NASA have had no time to come and sit in the House because we have had more pressing national issues to deal with. We believe this gives us an opportunity to continue agitating for fair, credible and verifiable elections because to imagine and believe there is no problem in Kenya, is to sincerely behave like the ostrich. You burry your head in the sand hoping the problem will go away. It is The electronic version of the Official ...

practically impossible to talk of being a leader and the President of the Republic of Kenya when you know very well that over three quarters of the country has issues with the legitimacy in the office. I sincerely want to tell everybody who cares to know that the election of 26th October 2017 is just a dream. It will not happen. Even if it happens, it will produce a president who has no legitimacy and, indeed, as the former Chief Justice said, the drums are ringing in this country. Those of us who refuse to hear the drums are generally ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. The nurses have been on strike for over 100 days. Nobody seems to care how to solve the problem because it does not affect them. It only affects poor people from Funyula Constituency. It only affects marginalised people from Busia and other parts of the country. The so-called ‘slump down’ in the economy is a situation that would have been avoided. If Jubilee would not have instigated the bungling of the elections, we would long have concluded this matter. As I conclude, we know problems lie ahead, but I want to urge my fellow ...

Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I rise to oppose this Motion on the ground that after strictly listening to the judgment of the Supreme Court, I realised that it ordered the IEBC to conduct repeat election in compliance with the law. I do not remember hearing them say we need to change the law. I imagine that the election date of 26th October 2017 was set in compliance with the existing law. I feel that the so-called amendments to the law are suspicious, mischievous and generally meant to divide this country further than it stands now.
