  • 16 Feb 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I second. Cancer has grown to a level that may be called a pandemic in our country if at all it was not reported on so much. The prevalence rate of many cancers has increased. We do not know why but maybe it is because of the advent of HIV/AIDS and the associated cancers which include cancers of the blood and the skin and the lymphatic system. It could also be due to improved diagnosis due to the availability of machines that we have now in the country; level of knowledge, existence of some oncologists in ... view
  • 11 Feb 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, indeed,we appreciate your wisdom in ruling over a very sticky and touchy issue like this one, which would have pushed some high ranking individuals in this country into disrepute. However, would I be in order to request that you give us the true meaning of the word “hustler”? view
  • 11 Feb 2016 in Senate: Thank you Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Whereas I do support the Motion, I am a bit worried about the precedent that is being set on appointment of Sessional Committees. Indeed, the beginning of this term has seen appointment of Committees as they were in the last Session. The necessity of actually having new committees is to inject new minds, may be somehow alleviate and improve on performance. I am personally concerned with what we have had before in the performance of the Committee on Implementation. I really do not know what they have done with regard to the Committee on ... view

  • 10 Feb 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, on behalf of the chairperson and the vice chairperson, who are not in the House, I communicate that the committee will deliver the answer in four week’s time. view
  • 10 Feb 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like to know whether the Governor of the CBK is under the direction of anybody to do what he has just been reminded not to do, especially, taking note of part 3 of the same constitutional act that has been quoted by The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes view
  • 10 Feb 2016 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. This is a House of records. The point of order as raised by Sen. Wangari may be taken as the gospel truth. However, look at Standing Order No.45 (2) (d). It actually gives that power to the Senate Majority Leader to act on behalf of committees. I would like to draw your attention to that, so that this is properly recorded. view
  • 10 Feb 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, as a rider, I would like the Cabinet Secretary to state how many IDPs from Migori he has hitherto paid, why he has not paid others and whether he intends to also include them in this list of IDPs. view
  • 9 Feb 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I thank God for the New Year and for everybody especially you. Sen. (Eng.) Muriuki is a seasoned politician and he has a good reason to make that kind of observation. However, since this is a Motion, he should have brought it as an amendment to the Motion so that we discuss the matter at length. If he so wishes, he should do that so that some of us can support him. Looking at the membership of the Committee, I find it able. If something were not to be kept secret, I would have wished to see ... view
