  • 28 Mar 2017 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, as I conclude, I do appreciate what the President said about supply of equipment to hospitals in this country. As a medical doctor, this equipment is useful irrespective of how they got into the hospitals. This equipment is very useful for it is used for initial diagnosis of the biggest problem that this country is facing in terms of health such as cancer which is ravaging our population. It does not matter whether it is malignant or benign. I am concerned that the industrial action that was taken by the personnel at the Ministry of Health took ... view
  • 1 Mar 2017 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also congratulate my colleague, Sen. Sang for bringing this Petition and the petitioners who have signed it. As a young boy, in 1959, I witnessed the implementation of the Eviction Ordinance issued by Her Majesty’s Government. That is something that keeps coming back to my mind. I can remember seeing caterpillars or bulldozers bulldozing a house full of goats and I would see blood streaming out and going towards the river when I pass by there. That happened when I was looking after the goats around the area. So, I have vivid memories of the ... view

I urge that this school which has been doing very well be part of the continuing process of reform in education where we are concerned with matters of integrity, especially handling of examinations in this country. This is a leading school. I encourage that it continues to work hard and within the new reformed way of handling examinations. • 16 Feb 2017 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, I also rise to support what my colleagues Sen. Sang and Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale have raised regarding the business of the House. I hope the Senate Business Committee (SBC) that directs business of this House is noting what is happening this afternoon in the House. That, at 4.00 p.m. we have no further business on the Order Paper. I am not saying that Senators have no role to play in this business because you can see the numbers in the House as well. It requires all of us, led by the SBC that schedules the business of ... view
  • 15 Feb 2017 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also wish to make a brief comment on this. The Petition has asked that we decriminalize and legalize the plant. We must be aware that there are many varieties of this plant. There is a lot of research that is going on, on this. If we look at the regulations that deal with narcotic drugs in Kenya at the moment, the level of information that we are having on these drugs is extensive. It is important not only to legalise but to look at the entire regulations that guide all narcotic substances, particularly in view ... view

  • 14 Feb 2017 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also take this opportunity to join my colleagues in mourning our departed colleague. I got to know the late Senator for Kwale County when we were elected to the Senate. Being the tall man that he was, whenever we would talk, I would look up at him. Within me, I always looked up to him for advice as we discussed various issues. He was of great value. I take this opportunity, on behalf of myself and the constituents of Bomet County, in mourning the departed Senator. I also join the constituents of Kwale County in ... view

  • 1 Dec 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to express my sympathy to the Governor for the injuries that he got. I want to seek clarifications on two items. The Governor was referred for treatment both locally and in South Africa for the injuries that he sustained on the face. I would like to know from the Vice Chairperson who exactly referred a little cut on the nose to be treated outside the country.
