  • 10 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order 44(2)(c), I wish to request for a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology regarding the loss of public land belonging to schools across the country. There have been cases where land belonging to schools has been regularly acquired by private developers despite the said public land having been owned by relevant local authorities. For instance, in Rabai Constituency, Kajiwe Primary School and Kajiwe Secondary School, with student totals of 1,141 and 208 respectively, are facing the threat of deregistration and closure due to their land having ... view

  • 10 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, mine is a bit urgent. There are some letters to the effect that those schools are in the process of being deregistered. Chelegat and the people she used to represent in Eldoret North Constituency. The death of hon. Chelegat Mutai has opened the eyes of the society on the plight of Members of Parliament. Just a few months ago, as Parliamentarians, we were fighting for our social wellbeing. We were, indeed, trying to run away from the conditions that the late Mutai faced. I believe that it is not proper for people to ... view
  • 5 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you hon. Deputy Speaker. For record purposes, my name is William Kamoti Mwamkale, Member of Parliament for Rabai Constituency. I rise to support this Motion. First and foremost, it is a constitutional right to have those services. Article 43 of our Constitution clearly states that everybody has a right to the highest attainable standard of health. Therefore, the Government needs to consider giving that right to its citizens. Hon. Deputy Speaker, Article 25 of our Constitution clearly states that this is among the rights which can enable any citizen to go to court without any fee and demand that ... view
  • 22 May 2013 in National Assembly: Asante Bw.
