  • 13 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, apart from the advertisements we occasionally see in the Press, what methods does the Ministry use to access these applicants all over the country? view
  • 13 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Roads when he will implement the commitment made in the year 2008 to upgrade Bukuga–Magada and Mbale–Magada roads in Vihiga Constituency to bitumen standards. view
  • 13 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Assistant Minister for the answer. However, he has denied the commitment that was made. There is a letter here which was written by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Roads, Eng. Kamau, dated 18th September, 2008. The last paragraph of this letter reads thus:- “The Ministry will consider the same for upgrading under the Roads Sector Investment Programme which is currently being prepared.” That was two years ago and that is why I raised the issue. view
  • 13 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the answer the Assistant Minister has given is not right. Could he, please, respond to that letter? view
  • 13 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I brought up this issue because of the importance of those roads. Therefore, I would like a commitment from the Assistant Minister. He should not take up this matter, generalize and make it become part of the policy issues which take long to be addressed. Could he be specific on this one and tell me whether it will be factored in the budget this year? The roads mentioned here are very important. view
  • 13 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. The Assistant Minister is reading about contract awards and post-election violence. That is what the Government is relying on. Could he confirm that? Is he just relying on what the contractor is writing or he is confirming what is on the ground? Is he in order? view
  • 12 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the main purpose of this Bill is to address consumer protection. I want to commend the Minister for publishing the price regulations. I am happy that the Minister is listening to this. What has been lacking is regular information to Kenyans about what is happening. When we first heard that the prices would be fixed--- The prices had gone up to Kshs104 - the people expected that, that would last. We then heard that the prices were going up. Kenyans do not understand that the pricing is also affected, for example, by what is happening ... view
  • 6 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Last week, there was a Question by hon. Member for Emuhaya and the Vice-President and Minister for Home Affairs answered it. Why can he not answer this Question because he is the Leader of Government Business in this House? view
  • 6 Apr 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Minister talked about two issues which I think he will have to clarify. He has said that it has taken a year since the time he wrote to the Treasury asking them to deal with this matter. Secondly, he requested the Questioner to assist in having this matter resolved. What concerted effort has he made and proved that he followed up on this matter? A year is too long for him to have just written a letter to the Treasury and then just sit back and say that he wants hon. Members to help him to ... view
