  • 27 May 2009 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, what I have noticed with a number of our colleagues is that once somebody becomes a Minister, he assumes that he knows it all. That is the biggest problem. We have seen some of our juniors even in school being made Ministers and they think they are now more senior than us. So, the matter addressed in this Motion should be mandatory. In fact, this should be done the same way it was sometime back, when it was compulsory for anybody joining the university to go through view
  • 26 May 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Considering that acreage must be an old requirement for a day school to convert into a boarding school, and in view of the fact that there is massive urbanization with people moving to towns to look for services and so on, could the Minister consider relaxing that rule so that we can be able to put in place either two-storied or multi-storied buildings for schools in urban centres? view
  • 26 May 2009 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. You have just heard the Minister saying that the document he is going to table is a protocol document for the running of the Government. Is he in order? In what role is he presenting that document? Is he purporting to be the leader of Government and State? view

  • 21 May 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Energy the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Could the Minister explain the cause of the heavy power supply fluctuations at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), which has adversely affected services at the facility over the last 24 hours? view
  • 21 May 2009 in National Assembly: (b) What urgent action is he taking to ensure that there is adequate and smooth supply of electricity to such important facilities and the country at large? view
  • 21 May 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have just received communication from hon. Mahamud, who is supposed to respond to this Question, that he is on the way coming. So, he has requested that we give him a bit of time. view

  • 21 May 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like to state that I received the information about the problem at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) from the Director. The issue of power surges and outages is a very common phenomenon. I am happy to hear from the Assistant Minister that he has now instructed the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) engineers to look at the problem. However, I would like him to make a follow up, because it appears as if no action has been taken. Could the Assistant Minister give this House that assurance? view
  • 21 May 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, these power outages and disruptions more often than not damage equipment before the standby generators automatically switch on. Could the Assistant Minister assure this House that they will take responsibility for any damage caused to any equipment like computers? view
