  • 29 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, could the Minister assure this House that among the programmes he has in place, he will make this road among his first priorities and visit it so that he can see for himself its condition including the road from Majengo to Luanda where Mr. Speaker comes from? view
  • 29 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to support this very important Vote. I just want to agree with the sentiments raised by previous speakers on this Vote. First, I want to congratulate them for being transparent in what they are doing now. For instance, the booklet that they have published, indicating the amounts of money allocated to every district, is a very noble idea. That way, we can know in advance how much money has been allocated to each Ministry. However, they probably need to spend a bit of time to do more in ... view
  • 24 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. You can hear that the hon. Members July 24, 2008 PARLIMENTARY DEBATES 2093 on the other side of the House are consulting very loudly. Is it in order? view
  • 24 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I also want to support this Motion, but also with reservations. This is because right now what we are playing about with is the issue of interest rates. Again, it is a matter of playing about with terminologies. If enough ground work could be done in a matter such as this one, it would have been better for us. There is no point of putting up a facility and yet you are not able to move. There is a lot of congestion at the Port, but there is also a lot of business ... view
  • 24 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, as I was saying, I think what the Government has done, in terms of development, over the last few years is commendable, but what I would like us, as a country, to do, is to look further. We should look at the entire country rather than concentrating facilities in a place where they may end up not useful to Kenyans. That is why I am also making a suggestion that the Government considers widening the road from Mombasa, the northern corridor, by making it a dual carriageway, and making mandatory regular maintenance of our roads, ... view

  • 23 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank Mr. Kaino for giving me this opportunity. I rise to support this Motion. I represent Vihiga Constituency in this House. It has what we call the Maragoli Hills. It used to be known as the Maragoli Forest. The forest was destroyed because of the Government, civil servants and the leaders who served before me. It should be the Government policy that we conserve our forests and environment. I am happy that the Minister is here to take note of this. There is a problem also that comes out of this. There ... view

  • 23 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Last week on Wednesday, the Speaker ruled that my Question to the Ministry of Roads will appear on the Order Paper today. I do not see it. So, I want your guidance on that. view
