  • 26 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like to know from the Assistant Minister the measures that the Ministry is putting in place to preserve all these sites which are all over the country, like the Maragoli Hills, which is the ancestral land or origin of the Maragolis in that area. view
  • 21 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the amount of Kshs700,000 that this vehicle is supposed to cost in terms of repairs I think is quite substantial. I raised a similar Question about two years ago and the Ministry improvised and gave a small vehicle which cost between Kshs1.2 million and Kshs1.5 million. Considering that the area where the Member who has asked the Question comes from, it is rather a difficult terrain, in these two years, could the Minister consider looking around and getting a vehicle for the time being? I am sure that there must a number of vehicles that he can ... view
  • 21 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I also want to contribute on this Motion. The undertaking that the Minister has made in this House is commendable. However, I wish that the Speaker took over and gave sanctions that would be meted on the Minister just in case. However, based on that and the way I know the Minister’s track record considering where he started from; the Ministry of Local Government, the Ministry of Nairobi Metropolitan Development and now the Ministry of Finance, I would like to support this Motion. However, I would like the Minister to address some key issues. ... view
  • 20 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I think this is a very noble initiative and effort by the Ministry and the local communities. For example, in Maragoli Forest, the communities are willing to participate and plant because it is supposed to be a multifaceted approach in order for us to cover the country with forest. What is the Ministry doing to improve on the rate that they are paying if they were to purchase the seedlings from locals who take the initiative to plant so that they can supply them to the forestry department to plant in the forest? view
  • 19 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: asked the Minister of State for Public Service:- (a) under what circumstances Mr. Benson O. Ambuni (PF No.1989006740) was dismissed from the Civil Service on 8th December, 2011; and, (b) whether he could consider reinstating him. view
  • 19 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this is one of the few cases where lower cadre staff in the Civil Service are victimised by their bosses, who then turn to the PSC because they know that the channel of redress is very long. I believe the Minister is aware that this fellow was in the Union of Kenya Civil Servants (UKCS), and tha he did not desert duty. He was on duty as a union representative. So, I would like him to tell this House whether he is aware that Benson Ambuni was one of the officials of the union representing civil ... view
  • 19 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, if you have listened to the answer that the Minister has given on this Question, you can see that the action taken by the Ministry is an afterthought. The Government and the head of department have been sleeping on the job for three years. Could I request the Minister, now that there is a lot of doubt on this case, to have this gentleman reinstated to his job as investigations go on because they were not done properly? view
  • 19 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: But Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, you can see that this is from 30th December, 2008 to December, 2011. Those are three years. They were not responsible at all. It is doubtful that the Government was doing the right thing. This is why I am saying that the Minister should have this gentleman, Ambuni, reinstated to his job. view
  • 19 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I think by the trend that we have been going through here, there must be something drastically wrong with the markets department in the Ministry, and I think it has to look into it. For example, even the one we are asking about the Economic Stimulus like in Majengo, but specifically on this one which was a contract of two years, only 54 per cent has been implemented. How will the Ministry make sure that the remaining 46 per cent of the work is done within the short time that he is saying? If they have ... view
  • 19 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. The Assistant Minister is not telling the truth. First, the answer he has given is wrong and secondly, terminating a contract is not going to compensate the people. view
