Madam Temporary Speaker, at the sitting of the Senate held on Thursday, 15th October, 2015, Sen. Godliver Omondi requested for a statement on the security and welfare of persons with disabilities. Madam Temporary Speaker, we were on a tour. The officials of Tanzanian Government had prepared a programme which would have seen us visit many places of interests, including the shrine.

Madam Temporary Speaker, the Senate Minority Leader’s concern was not different from those of many who spoke before him. However, I agree with him that we, as a country, should do more than what we are already doing using the NyumbaKumi Initiative, administrators and every forum that is available to us, as the Government, and political leaders to highlight the dangers faced by people who suffer from albinism. Madam Temporary Speaker, people with disabilities, especially albinism are among the number of people the police officers are supposed to give security to. They are not counted differently. However, I agree with you that the Government needs to do much more than what is happening now.
